Hi Sergio,

Sorry for the late reply and my absence during the move and subsequent resettling. I can get you measurements and photos soon if you still need them. Just let me know which ones you need.

This is a repost from Iowa fans. I would appreciate it if someone who had access to an Iowa-Class take a few measurements of the capstan & wildcats, hawsepipe (length and maximum height), and anchor chain. I am familiar with the sketch found at colosseumbuilders.com, but the measurements don't seem to add up.

Additionally, a profile picture of the hawspipe would be very helpful.

Thank you,
Sergio Morariu

The PDFs will be fine, just need to get to making them :thumbs_up_1: I'll have some time off later in the month so I should be able to knock them out then.

Cliffy B - I just checked out your photos - really good shots of a lot of the gear. Not that I've got a schedule (as I mentioned to you earlier), but any luck with the .pdf I sent you of BB62's Ribbon Board? Once again, no rush, I'm just curious if it was any help to you.

Thanks,

Hank

ps - your shots clearly indicate that BB64's port stern tub was configured much differently than BB62's for the '80s commissions.

No problem! :thumbs_up_1:

I know I dropped the ball a while back with some requests. If any of you made any that I didn't follow through on please remind me and I'll make sure to take care of them this time.

Fantail shots as requested. Snow had melted enough so we were back there today.

I can get some once the snow and ice leave us. They were actually just repainted so you're in luck!

Hi,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post these pictures! If, by chance, you have any pictures of the stern gun tubs, and their current contents, I would be most appreciative!

Thanks, and regards from a sunny, but chilly, Wisconsin,

Timothy

Cliffy!

Is there a photo of the top of turret three in here somewhere? I added all the stuff on BB63 turret two and guess three is the same, but have no photos of the top.

Cheers: T

Cliffy,
May be an unusual request but could you get close-up's of the flag lockers and the rigging connection points?

Jan - I haven't forgotten. I'll upload some shots soon. If you have any specifics let me know.

Wanted to share a Memorial Day photo as we broke our holiday ensign and ran up it up the mast today. I snapped it right before noon so It's still at half staff, or as close as we could get it so that it didn't get hung up on the funnel. We had a nice wind all day so all the flags were flying.

Image

I'm not sure what size it is, I'll have to check but it's up there. "Might" be a Number 1 and if its not its near the top. That's why its on the mast and not the stern where we usually have an appropriately sized ensign.

Call sign, "NUGW" is to starboard and the ship's nickname, "WISKY" is to port.

Happy Memorial Day to all!

-Mike

Hi Cliffy B,

could you please take some pictures from details of the aft and heli decks?

I would be interested especially in the outside structures of the small storage room and the prior gun platforms at the stern.

Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards

Well, I'm not sure how large the pad-eyes are but I'd do them in photo etch. Lots on tiny PE rings with a pin (1mm or more), stick the pin through a small PE donut with the right inner/out diameter, solder of glue the combination, drill in the hull and attach the donut/ring combination. Very study and very detailed at the same time.

Smaller than an outer diameter of 0.3mm will not really be possible (~10cm/4" full scale).
