Conversion of an Udaloy I to an Udaloy II would be a nearly impossible job. It's possible, but it incorporates a LOT of changes. The hull stretches out further aft to accomodate the fixed torpedo tubes behind their hatches compared to the Udaloy I which has its TT's in the open. Additionally there are the Kashtan platforms which differ from the original AK guns and of course the main gun instead of the two AK-100's. Would mean a lot of scratchbuilding on that one and probably better to make an Udaloy II from scratch!
Too bad she's in 1/350!

Hi Sean Richard Motyaka worked from modellers drawings and from pictures of the Chabanenko that were published in Model Boats magazine about 3 years ago . I haven't yet seen the 1:350 Udaloy 1 kits but I guess the Admiral Penteleyev should make a very imposing model and perhaps could lend itself to conversion to the Udaloy 2 ?. I'ts listed for release this year but when?

Hi Darren the twin barrelled "thingys" on the bow of Richards model are in fact "PK2s" or trainable 152mm active decoy launches . Apparently the chute to the side of the launcher has a duel purpose . First for disposing of dud rounds and secondly a simple convenient method for discharging IR decoys over the side .

He, he. I couldn“understand why Timmy was so confused about the model and the real thing, since it was plain clear that the model was on the two first pictures and then the last one.
I just realised how wrong I was only a minute ago!. Timmy, joining your ranks!
Awesome build. Abslutely awesome.

I try to show as much stuff as I can as far as "how to" stuff goes. I hope all remember, I have a ship to build and a deadline to meet. I have others anxiously awaiting the current project. So it's not that I don't want to show all aspects, I simply don't have the time. I think ARH is a bit more flexible, as he keeps all his models. I sometimes wish I could........

Ron and myself see a number of models of equal quality once every two months and it never fails to inspire us both , just to look at the level of workmanship even though I know it's out of my reach. Non the less with out modellers like Ron and Bill explaining "how to" then such inspirational workmanship as this Udaloy2 would be meaningless as it would be difficult to understand how these models are built.
