Having finished all of my previous projects for the US Nationals, it's now time to start a new project which I've wanted to do for a while - Russian RJW vintage gunboat Bobr. It was built in 1883, displaced 1200 tons and was armed with a 9" gun in the bow casemate and a 6" gun at the stern, as well as some smaller guns. It was extensively used in the defense of Port Arthur and was sunk by siege artillery towards the end of the siege.
There isn't that much info on it, but I did manage to find some drawings for it published back in the 1980s. I'm going to build it in the defense of Port Arthur configuration. Here is how it will look like:
As usual for me the lower part of the hull was done using the styrene sandwich with the deck plan glued on top. The was later sanded down to the exact shape:
As a next step I added the rails for the guns (the gunboat still had the old style mounts that rode on rails) and started doing the superstruture):
That all for now. Once I finish the superstructure I'll start working on the bulwarks.
