This is an inspiring build. Can't wait to see the next update.

I often daydream of building a 1/72 radio control DE (the Samuel B Roberts), but this won't happen for quite a while as I've got quite a few tiny boats (1/72 RC MTBs) and subs in the queue.

I'd also love to see a diagram of your vac-form table as I want to make a vac-form table. I never thought of using it for large hulls, though. Would it be strong enough for a radio control model, do you think?

I like the old fashioned pencil sharpener on the work bench. Haven't seen one of those in some time! Indeed your unusual hull fabrication has worked well. In this scale cutting and assembling the ship is not so different than the way the shipyards worked.

Cheers. Tom

Ludwig,

When you started this project back in 2010 I was really impressed with the way you created the vacuformed hull, and I was curious how it would turn out. Now I would say it is turning out excellent!

Nice work! My big boat dream is a 1/72 Gearing class in her FRAM1 config. I am following your built as an inspiration. Looking forward to see it completed.

That little ship is going to be quite a looker when all is said and done; I've no doubt you're planning on populating her decks with sailors and officers, right?

Is she going to be static or motorized? I'm guessing the former...
