Hello everybody,

sorry for long absence - in between I've completed my ship.
Not everything 100% to my satisfaction but I decided to keep it like this.
Still haven't found a place in our house and so she's still waiting in my workshop...

Best regards
Stefan

Hi Stephan, what a nice work!
I wrote you a private email but did not know if you received it, anyway, could you upload the hull lines or the 3d model? I want to make a three island tramp steamer very similar but only have the profile of the ship and a deck view. We would be very grateful, I've tried using delftship but I couldn't get a model as perfect as yours,
Best regards

Very sorry, but haven't been online for long time and so I found your request just now.
Unfortunately I didn't receive your email, no idea what went wrong.
If you are still interested, please let me know.
I also can send you the delftship file.

Best regards
Sefan

Thank's very much everybody for your kind comments.

Here are the lifeboats and one workboat together with davits.
Boats are 3d-printed, the davits made of styrene sheet.

Best regards
Stefan

Hello everybody,

Just finished anchors, windlass and cargo winches.
All made of styrene sheets.
Have a look:

To prevent my model from collecting any more dust, I decided to complete the showcase.
With increasing details, cleaning would become more and more difficult otherwise.
Made it from cherry wood bars and foundation plate.

Also started with cargo winches, which I manufactured from styrene.

Thanks a lot both of you!
Unfortunately the construction time of my model exceeds already by far that of the original, a hundred years ago ;)
OK, they had some more helping hands...

Here are some more fotos of the funnel, which I had forgotten to show earlier:

Stefan,

Are you sure this thing is real? Were it not for the normal workshop background I would think it was a 3D CAD model because it has such clean and crisp lines! Very nice!

Hello everybody,
after long time here comes another update.
Just finished the framework for the awnings over poopdeck, bridge deck and flying bridge.
I made it from 1mm plywood and steel pins because stanchions from brass wire proved to be too limp.
Best regards
Stefan

That's the Problem: The more complete a model is looking, the harder it becomes to motivate oneself for all those time-consuming details.
And by the way: Amazing project.
It's a pity, that you didn't complete.

Best regards
Stefan

The portholes have transparent styrene sheet glued inside.
Not a perfect solution - I know - because the holes are too deep in this scale.
However in old shipyard models the portholes were commonly only painted or glued on the bulkheads and sometimes you see those unpleasant brass eyelets.
So I found this a satisfiying compromise.
At least when looking from the distance I find it rather realistic.

How do you plan to make the glass in the portholes ?
