Re: Paint for 1/350 3D USN sailors ?? |

Thank you for these suggestions, guys! I'll see if I can try them out. Since asking my questions, here, I have gone with a few Model Master and a Vallejo (Air brush) paint colors. A bit of a mix and match of brands of acrylics. I switch up the shade of blue on the pants as well as the shirts. I have been using Model Master Wood as the flesh tone and have been happy with that. The khaki color for officers is Sand. Not too, fond of that, though.

I go with Vallejo paints for everything. These are in 1/700 scale, but I find that Vallejo Grey Blue and Dark Prussian Blue work well for the shirts and trousers. I haven't gotten to the chiefs and officers for this build yet, but I always grab whatever looks good from my paint rack for that tan.
These are the 3D Model Parts figures, which are very nice. The only issue is that you have to prime them pretty well to get rid of the orange resin color.

I use mostly Citadel acrylic paints because they are very excellent quality, but they are not "MILITARY" colors (they're mainly war-gaming, and D&D, judging by the color's names), and are generally over-looked by modelers. They've become very complicated recently, what with "contrast colors", "layer color", "dry-brush color", but their "base" range of paints is sufficient, ie; "Ice Blue" for shirts; "Enchanted Blue" for trousers; and "Desert Yellow" for khaki's. Disclaimer; your color values may vary from mine! Life Color, and Vallejo, also make high quality acrylic colors, and are inter-mixable (as are all real acrylics), but I prefer Citadels.

For cutting I would suggest a razor blade or tiny saw. Check JLC tools or similar: https://www.aviationmegastore.com/img/p ... 3509_0.jpg

Paint for 1/350 3D USN sailors ?? |

What is everyone using, nowadays, for painting the 3D printed 1/350 USN figures.
I would like to hear about the type of paint (acrylic, enamel, artist's, etc.) and the favored colors for dungaree pants and shirts and flesh colors, as well as a decent khaki color for officers and one that can contrast with the caucasian flesh color(s) used.
Any tips on cutting them apart would be appreciated, as well.
