1). I have noticed that in photos of the superstructure of the 1/700 scale Agano-class, that there are portholes in a few places, and hatches under the second turret that I could easily model by drilling small holes (for the portholes), and simply cutting out small rectangles of styrene for the hatches.
Any idea of how to get the hatches cut to the same size and shape easily?
Or am I just stuck with having to do a "best match" for them? I think it only two hatches.
2). I notice on one side of the Agano Superstructure (again, below the second turret), on the left side, there is this strange cylindrical object attached to the superstructure. It is conical at both ends, and has what looks like a pipe coming out of it going into the superstructure.
What is that thing?
I can probably make one out of styrene rods pretty easily (just stick one in a Dremel to make the cone on the ends, and then glue it to the side of the ship). But if it was something that wasn't usually there, then I would rather not bother.
2). When using Liquid model cement, it often gets on the areas, such as the decking surrounding the superstructure, and this causes a slight deformation of the surface at that point.
Am I stuck with having to just take the needle-files to the decking? What about deck areas that have texture to them (I notice that the Fubuki's deck seems to have what looks like a rough texture to it, which will be difficult to preserve if I go filing at the decking around the superstructure)?
