What I recommend will be different depending on the answer. The Tamiya FLETCHER 1/350 scale kit (as well Trumpeter's THE SULLIVANS kit) has several errors, missing equipment or flat out wrong equipment (example, they included a "rectangular" SC-2 radar antenna when it should be a "square" SC-1 antenna). Placement of the aft twin 40-mm "tub" location is the least of your problems.

Hi Rick

This one is just getting the feel of the building again and what goes where , build up my skills againand to look decent in the end it was partially started already when I bought it. The next ones (Conway[Tam]~~Claxton[Trump,]~~Watts[Trump]) would like to do close to accurate and have ordered some of the resin extras and PE sets. I have the layouts for the periods per chats with you from waaay back I archived. As well as about 20 similar pages down in ship fans thread, and as many refs I could find from navsource,destroyerhistory.org,shipcamoflage.com, google, etc. Only real things I don't have for them are the tiny stuff like you mentioned like radars and Directors and such

The issue of replacing the too small 5-in gun mounts on the Tamiya (or any kit) is to look at the foundations. The Tamiya kit has mount foundations on the deck. Some replacement resin and 3-D printed guns come with the foundations "on the mount". Hence if you simply install the mount on the kit as is, the mounts will be too high. I ran into this problem on the kits I have built (or rather started, I don't seem to actually complete a build?). This can apply to the 40-mm gun mounts as well. Removing or otherwise make adjustments is needed. Also, the forward mount, 51 mount, is on a steep sheer and the foundation needs to be shaped to level up the mount.

Hi Dave

I thought the tub looked a little forward. How do I measure the Tub?? It's on by Putty in case I had to move it, second question for the aft 40mm I see the gun but is the director in the front in the small area closest to the smoke makers???? I can't tell. The 5" guns I think are Lionroar, they were in a Ziploc baggie. The guns looks to high or something. 5th picture. Ahh did not use easy off. Maybe I'll try that next.

Hey All

So I've started my first ship build after about a 9 year hiatus. Going to build, well refurbish a kit I bought at a local hobby swap meet for 5 bucks that was started and part painted already
. Going to build USS. Jenkins in Mid 43' got new weapons on order. And found I have to add aft 40mm tub and a centerline 20mm platform outside under bridge windows?
So far been ok except every paint stripping product I tried didn't work lol. From Laquer Thinner. brake Fluid, Brake cleaner to AK Paint Stripper. And the resin guns don't look right.
But my Hang up right now I think the 40mm aft deck tub is too far forward per my reference attached I think. So any help guidance would be awesome on that.
