Maybe you can airbrush everything (off-)white, and carefully handpaint the floor in grey? If you work slowly and carefully, that could be done without the need for masking? Nice tactic Marijn , but my gut feeling is strongly suggesting that it is highly likely I will make a mess. As Dan pointed out I got too excited when testing the figures and glued them on straight away. I will try your painting method on my KAGA hangar build.

Do you have any intention of painting the brass, or leaving as is? Thanks Dan, I had intention of painting it but I have hangar decks and supports all glued up. it would be hard to paint supports+ceiling in white and floor in grey now. What do you recon?

Superlative work Nathan, am speechless I like the idea of an interchangeable deck! The view of the cramped hangars and the various scenes you recreated look very realistic. The wind effect and the windsock are Capital . Top notch painting and weathering. Amazing rendering of the air wing canopies. Also, the figures look extremely well-made, their poses look natural and considering the 1/700 scale that's a great feat: 3D printed? what brand? Well Done! Looking forward to see the Kaga completed as well. Cheers, SG

Thanks, Dan. The fighters and bombers are aftermarket from Kajika, which I suspect is a Flyhawk sub-brand (great details). I have also mixed in some stock planes from Hasegawa in the stack. I've also bought some home-made 3D-printed planes from a friend; check them out in the following updates. The rainbow hangar set is really worth the effort, but in my case here, it is not accurate as per Akagi's hangar layout, but oh well, I'll live with it. Heads up if anyone would like to try it: Rainbow designed it for the Fujimi kit, and it is a nightmare trying to fit it into a Hasegawa kit. mmaresm wrote: I finished a IJN Kaga and haven't decided on building a "sister ship" ( so that way it won't be "lonely" ). Thanks Mario, I've started Fujimi 1/700 Kaga as well, the amount of detail is overwhelming! Attachment:

I Agree with 'Martin'... Welcome onboard, and ...... What a sight on that PE!!! I see that you went ALL-OUT on the accessories, with 'AKA' bridge, 'Shipyards' wooden deck, and that PE => Whoa!! I finished a IJN Kaga and haven't decided on building a "sister ship" ( so that way it won't be "lonely" ). So I'll be following along as well. All the Best!!! Mario

My First Post 1/700 IJN Akagi Hasegawa |

Greetings! I am new to this forum and here is my first post. Kit is from Hasegawa 1/700, purchased prob 4yrs ago, I got little time to build it since then. Now I m having a holiday so decided to finish this project. I have added in a hanger interior kit from Rainbow models, a detail kit from Hasegawa, wooden decks from shipyard, and a spare bridge from AKA works. During the build I found out I under estimated the etching parts, had glue all over the places, and there are small parts missing here and there, at some stage I was about to give up searching for recoshet parts on carpet whilst my cat is trying to distract the work. Thanks for watching! Attachment:
