Well, I've begun the process. Pretty tough I must say. I've got the hull outline done, and I'm gonna get some card or balsa wood on to it soon.

You know you could use just about any BB hull. The only thing is that you'd have to add the US guns and boats, and whatever else to it. Definitely keep me posted on what and when you start the build I really ,really get into the scratch built conversions.
On another note looking through the old posts I never posted any finished pics. I'll have to see if I have any around, That is if any one is still interested.

It might be a while until that happens. I have a lot on the workbench, and frankly, I haven't finished any of them. But, I am stocking up on the things that I will need, mainly using Dragon sprues. I need a source for the main guns though. I only have 3 14 inch gun mounts, and 3 8inch guns.

As of now, I think I will cut up different hulls that I have: a Pennsylvania, Baltimore, and Yorktown class. The Baltimore will be the bow, the Yorktown the body, and I will cut the Pennsylvania down the middle and place it on the sides of the ship, left and right. It will be a sort of sandwich battleship...

If a Montana class model exists then that would be a good starting point.

If I had to do again, I would go with any of the IOWA class BB's . But if your looking for something FAT and long the Yamato class would be the way to go.

Do you have any advice on what kits would make a good hull for a BB that looks like it was made in the US? I know it's been about 2 years, but I might do something like this in 1/700...

Thanks yall, I was at most points on the egde of insanity :lol_3: . because when I started this build I was for sure what most of the components were  such as a barbette. and now that i'm working on the rigging i'm still going nuts :mad_2: . but i hope to have it finished by 4, oct for the local model show.

Not to much to update as it's taken me forever it seems to get the anchor chains and what not in place , I also added a place for the aft crane operator to operate, then I had a nasty gap down the whole side of the ship ( from using the wrong thickness of wood for the deck :doh_1: ) but in one of the pics you can see that I added some cover to fix that . But there just seems like i'm missing something on the forecastle, Thanks and haave a good one.

Greetings...

Will you place 20mm aa guns at the port and stbd sides of the forecastle? If you want to add more detail try placing the anchor chain keys that are used for brakes for the chain ...
