Well, I've begun the process. Pretty tough I must say. I've got the hull outline done, and I'm gonna get some card or balsa wood on to it soon.

But, I am stocking up on the things that I will need, mainly using Dragon sprues. I need a source for the main guns though. I only have 3 14 inch gun mounts, and 3 8inch guns. As of now, I think I will cut up different hulls that I have: a Pennsylvania, Baltimore, and Yorktown class. The Baltimore will be the bow, the Yorktown the body, and I will cut the Pennsylvania down the middle and place it on the sides of the ship, left and right. It will be a sort of sandwich battleship...

If a Montana class model exists then that would be a good starting point.

If I had to do again, I would go with any of the IOWA class BB's . But if your looking for something FAT and long the Yamato class would be the way to go.

Do you have any advice on what kits would make a good hull for a BB that looks like it was made in the US? I know it's been about 2 years, but I might do something like this in 1/700...
