Which event does your diorama depict? The travel of Makarov from Norway to Sibiria?

Thank you!
I can not say for sure, there are no data on the color for that period. Model made by drawing and enjoyed the color scheme is described where a ship.

Hello.

Ice can make you feel like you follows:
You take acrylic gel (colorless) and mix it into something a little Light blue or white.
Now you stroke in several layers of the stained gel on a glass plate.
After it is dried a few days, it's like a film and you can do it for further processing as desired. For example small icicle cut or something similar.
For larger floes You can also find some light blue and light gray add.
This then gives the effect of wet ice, as it often is to look at the fairways.
For thicker ice floes can take polystyrene sheet and roughen the surface with a little thinner. Then brush with glue and sprinkle fine white ceramic powder over it. Ceramic powder does not yellow.
Give it a try.

Tschau Olaf

Thank you for the links. The photo there (and the models) confirm your painting scheme.

The drawing confirms my interpretation

I tried to depict Ioann Kronshtadtsky during the travel of Makarov to Sibiria. She was probably repainted several times. Your model is obviously much more detailed than mine.

This is a photo-etching of the GOLD MEDAL Models: http://www.goldmm.com/ships/gms7gpra.htm and http://www.goldmm.com/ships/gms7gpjr.htm
The boats used a set of models.

Thanks for the information and continue building a lot of fun.
