Early on when this thread started, i asked the builder where he acquired the detailing from. His answer was from Great Little Ships (GLS). I took his advice and obtained all the items to upgrade my Snowberry. It is not a cheap way to upgrade the kit, but if anyone has deep pockets, i can thoroughly recommend the GLS upgrade. It took me two years to finish mine, and it took out Best in Show in our state comp. Recommended to anyone building this quite "basic" kit.

I love the model I'm new to conversion but saying that I did build HMCS Snowberry as an RC model once before with no detailing just as it came but poor storage in the attic during decorating meant it fell off a shelf and smashed beyond salvage so my wife bought me the Platinum edition I know mine won't be totally accurate but I hope I can improve on the kit standard. This forum is great allowing me loads of reference points

Hi, I would like discuss some unclear elements on HMS Campanula, because there are some specific things what I didn’t see on another corvettes. So, on starboard side of ship, on this picture - http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w62/maguroteriyaki/HMS_Campanula1jpg.jpg - I have a feeling that bridge is longer than usual, just to align with back side of radar tower. That could explain why there is some small stanchion on bridge support. Mr. FlowerPower did mention that in building log on page 2 of this thread - http://s173.photobucket.com/user/maguroteriyaki/media/beams3.jpg.html. Photo of the ship looks quite directly from the side, I don’t have a feeling there is some big problem with perspective. Another strange is directly behind the bridge, there is some platform or walkway and stairs/ladder from the bridge to mast platform. And finally, on the deck, under the bridge and behand the bridge support, normally there is a walkway to wheel house doors. Well, it looks cut shorted and free space (behind hedgehog) fill some big box or locker. Thanks for your opinion. L.

Hi, just found this post - great build, but standstill since nearly a year. I'm having a go at the Revell's flower class, building one looking really, really badly battered by the sea and elements (exremly weathered). I find your build abolutly fantastic and will copy some of your ideas if I may regarding the items etc. you have added to your Modell. So, I've got lots of scratchbuilding and adding of small Details to do. Cheers Paul

Rob, what a great job you are doing on this ship. I love it. I had one but ended up trading with a good friend, but I think after looking at your I will have to get one again...soon Mike

Wow, your flower class corvette makes mine of the same kit look like a toy. Great great stuff!

Really ... before you started this build I had some thoughts to make this ship too in an harbor diorama ... but after you did not only show your master degree here but the mistakes or let me say "improve able things" of the kit ... well ... I put my thoughts back into the drawer for the first.
My deep respect for your masterpiece here! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

great build, wondered how you've got on since the last post. I've juts brought this kit and some of the GLS aftermarket stuff. Looking a some of the plan drawings in the John Lambert book it looks like there were water vents in the hull below the engine room but not seen this mentioned in any of the build reviews. Anyone know if there were any hull vents please ?
Look forward to seeing an update on progress to inspire me !

I was reading through Kaneyashi's Campanula build on the Flower Forum and was quite disappointed when it ended abruptly (In fact, it's disappointing that the Flower Forum seems to have ended abruptly too). I'm not sure how I managed to miss the continuation of the build here - I must have been browsing the wrong topics - but it is great that I found it again and can see how it's progressing . . . and it is progressing very well indeed I have just started to think seriously about getting my Flower under construction again and it is so helpful to see what needs to be done as well as pitfalls to avoid. I have a few of the minor GLS sets and plenty of plastic card I'm looking forward to seeing the miniature champagne bottle cracked over Campanula's stem. Cheers David

I took the plank detail off the deck by "shaving" with a Stanley knife blade on the more open areas and with a wood chisel around the location points for the superstructure and bollards etc.

Not sure of your skill level, but the author of this thread suggested contacting "Great Little Ships" in the UK. The full set, which is expensive, but well worth it, includes complete replacement decks. Other options include replacements of (almost) every kit part. It consists of extensive PE frets, resin and white metal replacements. I am well into building the Snowberry option, but the GLS includes the option of building Bluebell. The website is www.djparkins.com and the email is djparkins@aol.com. Can't recommend it more highly, but it requires a clear mind to follow the very detailed instructions. If you wish to remove the moldings on the kit parts, i used a chisel shaped blade (sharp as possible). Where in Oz do you live?. I reside in Sydney.

Hi Rob, Here are some more with a little bit of progress:- As you will know Gloxinia had a unique bridge and, as there are only two photos of her, my build is way open to interpretation. However, I have been building from the Agassiz Anatomy book and scaling everything up. Just last week a guy in the club said he had some old plans was anyone interested. I said yes, and amongst the various others was..... ye gads.... 48th scale plans for the HMS Aubretia, built here on the Clyde by Browns.... Checking my model against the plans I was amazed that I wasn't very far out with some of my dimensions. All the best Sandy
