Wow, you're fast!!! Milan Kuliffay wrote: Ryuji, good luck and I hope that it will again be so good as your IJN Unryu and Katsuragi. And I hope your Shoho will be as good as your Amagi! Well, from the looks of your build thread, it looks like it might become even better... I wish you would also post a buid thread here in English! Cheers, Marijn

well done so far on both models. Despite some of the deck inaccuracies it is quite clear that OOTB, the fujimi kit is far superior to the hasegewa one. The structural details are just incomparable

Very nice job and comparing models from different manufacturers. I am for a longer time working on IJN Shoho (Hasegawa). Etchings I was drafting myself and were produced in a reputable company. You can see some pictures of my models and attached link of my working procedure. http://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=175&t=77525Ryuji, good luck and I hope that it will again be so good as your IJN Unryu and Katsuragi.

Thank you for posting that photo, Ryuji. I can see that Fujimi has gone yet again with that incorrect planking pattern. Drat. OTOH, Fujimi has given the forward flight deck curved edges, which is more correct than the Hasegawa straight angled version, though there may be too much curve here. It was Ryuho that had a straight angled forward end to the flight deck. Great work so far. I love the side by side comparison.

Yeah, Fujimi generally seems more detailed. Another nice thing is that Fujimi produces much better PE for their Zuiho kit than Hasegawa (or Tom's) - I got one which I will use for my future Shoho and quality-wise (not detail-wise though) it looks on par with Rainbow/FH.

Quote: Not really, as for me. I'd go ahead and drill my own ones and then insert Flyhawk photo etch afterwards. Not sure about Zuiho, but on some ships porthole position and amount changed radically throughout the service, so this give you more options to build whatever you want.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this point. The hull is missing two rows of portholes over most of its length. I find it far easier to cover a hole, in the case of a late war version (would be the bottom row and select portholes on the top) then to first drill them. More importantly, they are using the same hull for Shoho, which never had its portholes sealed. The portholes aside, the Fujimi kit does look good.
