Magnificently rendered hull damage. Well done. If you're looking for similar subjects, 100 years ago Scapa Flow was full of Imperial German scrap metal - some of it's still there.

Yes, it was a real pleasure to see it close-up in person. Just beautiful! I wonder what your next project will be?

It was really nice to see the model in real life at Veldhoven, to bad I missed meeting you. The detail on the model is really stunning.

I'm happy to announce the completion of my 1:700 IJN Aoba. Here are some pics of the completed model. I was able to enter her to the 11th World Model Expo in Eindhoven, last week, where the model was awarded a silver medal in the ship master class.
Thank you for following my progress all these years. See you on my next project.

I think your water thus far is very nicely looking up!
The water will be covered with acrylic gel. I was trying the same method used by Marijn. I have no experience with clear resin but I might try it next time. From what I've seen, I feel the depth seen with clear resin is a bit too much for this scale, but I can be wrong here. I did not plan to have an oil slick on the surface. I tried painting the water surface with darker colors to show what might be underwater. It is yet to be seen how successful I am at that. Yeah, I tend to agree, you're correct on scale and going against resin. I will follow your build with interest as Kure wrecks are also a bit of an obsession of mine (and I discussed that at length prior with Marijn). Id love to add to the trio with Haruna which now sits and waits its hour but afraid it is too much for me currently with my skill level on water.

May be I can find a model worthy of entry, but more importantly, can witness some awesome work. It is the World Model Expo in Veldhoven. It is a huge show that is organized only every three years, each time on a different location and by a different local organization, but backed by an international committee. This time it is on the location and by the organization of the annual SMC (Scale Model Challenge) show. The World Expo is traditionally figure-centric, but because of the strong tradition of SMC with plastic modelling we can be sure of a very strong turnout for this too, especially after Covid. The strongest will be armour for sure, but I'm expecting a good number of ship models too! Anyway, I'll be there for the full 3 days, and I'm looking forward to it a lot! The ship was pretty much done. I had been thinking about the bamboo and camouflage material for a long time, especially on the stern. In the end I just cut up some hemp fibre. The bamboo frame on the main guns was stretched sprue and some plastic bits and pieces. Cutting the railing while leaving only the poles is quite a boring task...
