Nothing to do with him there. I have been professional models for over thirty years. I have my own production technology models. Basically, I make home-made models from drawings and photographs.

Good job.

Yes, this watercolor paper.

Which colours did you use for the decks?

I paint water with acrylic paints Akan: http://akanshop.ru/index.php?option=com ... 0&Itemid=2

The decks of these models painted two different colors:

Well after a month's deployment I am back and thought I should share my first day's work ... Went on to add some detail to my 1/700 Kirov from the Lionroar set... Some details though such as the radar antenna bases and waveguides were way off my league at the moment so I combined pe with original parts... No paint has been added and the parts are dryfitted to place... :wave_1: :wave_1:

Well after many many deployments and ups and downs it is finally done.... Highly inaccurate, especially the paintjob but I finished it just for the sake of it...

Short for "what if". Hypothetical subjects that were never built.

What's a "whif"?

Some progress. I nearly completed the crane, just have to paint it and put some rigging on it.
The trees have all been "planted" now, and I started "leafing" them. Still have to clean up these though. The color difference between the green on the new trees and the old ones is just by the sunlight on the old ones. Quite a change, I'm surprised myself, so I guess I'll protect it a bit against sunlight from now on.

Gotta admit, I like the Soviet Hovercrafts - they just have such a presentation to them, it makes them so much more outstanding than the LCAC, that and of course the Pomornik's capacity to shell the beach as it makes the attack, and carry defensive weapons.

The Akula is just stunning in the depth of detail, Rui - very awesome stuff man.

Hi all

I have missed (kind of...) this thread but my two latest projects fill in the category...
So, here is my current project:
Big Brother (dio):

And the latest finished, Akula in Floating Dry Dock - for those of you who attended Telford, you might have seen it

Both are in 700th scale. Most of the things you see are scratchbuilt or heavily modified
On the To-Do list is the mother (or Father) of all submarines: The Typhoon, also in 700
Thanks
Rui

Congrat John, only saw it now. Nice sea effects.

Here is my Baltiysk port diorama. Basically I stopped a couple of years ago, so the basics of it are quite old, I've learned a lot of scratchbuilding afterwards.

Currently I added the fenders on the quay side. I also made more trees to put on the line. After abandoning the entire fleet project, I decided to use the Sliva tug SB-406 (Northern Fleet) of that project and use it as the Baltic unit of that class. I'm depicting her behind one Nanuchka alongside. The other Nanuchka and hovercrafts (Skywave kits obtained from Rob) will be on the other side of the dio. One hovercraft on the water turning towards its landing spot, the others ashore and the Nanuchka passing on the far side.
First I'll finish the quay side of the dio, afterwards I still have to finish the Zubr and a Nanuchka. The Tug and the Nanuchka were a little too low compared to the quay so I added a layer of 1.5mm styrene and painted it red. The first layer of Acrylic is now drying, I will heighten it up till the waterline of the ships. Nails are keeping the cardboard on the wooden board, and the ships are sitting on top of the nails to cover them.
