I went ahead and got the Prince of Whales plans from Smorskie. It's pretty much the same for what I'm doing. Those books are just so damn expensive. As for the plans from the NMM, what is A3 size? I sure as hell don't need them 10 feet long. The price is 4.40 pounds per copy, that's for each sheet of the plans, right, not the entire set? And was it so expensive because they included the research charges?

Check out also John Roberts - British Warships of World War 2. A fairly inexpensive book with facsimile copies of WW2 RN ships' plans.

Cheers,

Rob

The Raven and Roberts "British BBs of WWII", is the best bet short of NMM plans. You could work out a good deal from them. Not sure how far into detail you want to go, for perfection I think the plans would be needed. That's all up the individual model builder how much detail they want.

Those plans are very expensive, I enquired a couple of years ago and it came to over 100 pounds. There are alternatives, Ensign 1 by Alan Raven, British Battleships of WW2 by the same author and there is the Profile Morskie series but you have to take these with a pinch of salt, though the drawings of the fittings are generally good. A combination of those, the latter for the details and the two former for precise placement is I think possibly your best alternative, though the first two are out of print and can be pricey, you should be able to get them through your local library.

I'm sure there are others, but that is what springs to mind

I would recommend starting with the National Maritime Museum Plans and Foto department in the UK. Visit the NMM website easily found by google search and click for the Plans/Foto dept. That will guide you as to how to get the plans for King George V class BBs. You seem interested in minute detail, I don't know where else but builders plans from the NMM that you will find such detail. There are books on the KGV BBs, but none that I own would show complete fittings for a model on you scale. Builders plan from the NMM would be the ticket I think :wave_1:

I'm trying to detail a 1/350 King George V, but can't find any even half-decent reference materials. I need something to show the locations of hatches, ladders, cable reels, and the like, as well as which types go where. Where can I find good, detailed photos and/or layouts to use as guides?
