Good news: today Warship 2009 is showing as "In stock on June 26, 2009" at amazon.com. Their current price is $32.97.

Non-US buyers not wanting to pay the full £30 cover price to Anova might want to wait and see if it returns to other online booksellers too; for example whsmith.co.uk today shows it as a pre-order for £19.20.

Several other online booksellers have now pulled Warship 2009 from sale.

Looking further I found this at http://twitter.com/AnovaBooks:

Quote:
The new Warship 2009 is now on sale exclusive to our website.

Why have Anova decided to sell Warship 2009 only from their online shop? To improve their margins?

This morning Warship 2009 appeared on the publisher's website. I guess it just suffered the usual publishing delay.

I got the same massage, but I saw it today still offered, but not released on www.amazon.com.

I pre-ordered Conway's Warship 2009 (ISBN 1844860892) from Amazon UK late last year. Today I received an email stating that order had been cancelled because:

Quote:
We are no longer able to offer this item for sale. Our supplier has informed us that this item has been discontinued and is no longer available.

This is probably just a typical Amazon screw-up; their page listing disappeared a month or two back and the book was due to be shipped about now.

Or it could be an attempt to wriggle out of their pre-order price discount, though admittedly that is a cynical interpretation.

Or maybe Conway's Warship really has just died.

Is anybody able to shed some light here?
