Love hull weathering on this, and the planes in that metallic polish finish look fabulous! Whole thing looks like a high quality 3D render, you have built an excellent model!

How did you achieve that finish on lower hull below water, but still uniform finish from afar? The weathering is excellent.

a very excellent model,==> sharp and edgy-'- beautifully presented and
and an interesting alternative to the ' usual ( equally iconic !) full length flight deck version

Bravo--lots of time indeed in the build-- but the result justifies! :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Jim Baumann

David Griffiths 1/700 model full deck version in contrast --same ship and a completely different look..!

Mick it's a pleasure to see USS Langley completed. Am at loss for words to describe how Great this project has turned out. Outstanding assembly, painting and weathering of every single detail. Masterful painting and distribution of crew members too, the vignettes you created add an incredible realism to the ensamble. I've enjoyed the WIP thread very much. Bravo (x3)!

Beautiful work. Really love your arrangement of the aircraft and figures, and your weathering is top-notch.

Thanks, nice to read comments like those. I agree wholeheartedly, figures do make any model 'pop' and ION has plenty of those unconventionally posed dudes, that put smile on your face.

Didn't know about ION models!!

They are one of our site sponsors - their logo is just to the right of "What's New". Check them out!

Really nice work Mick. The yellow wings pop, and I like the whimsical poses of some of the figures, like the guy lying in the netting, or the fella on one foot on the wing of the plane. Nice touch.

I'm calling her done. 14 months and a week, not bad time, but I was hoping to squeeze her within 12 months. I've use 3D printed add-ons for the first time and i have mixed feelings. Guns were nice and carefree, but the boats needed copious sanding to get rid of print artifacts. Crew from ION Model, I'm a big fan of them, good poses, nice intricate detail, way finer than the North Star ones I used before. I hope you'll enjoy scrolling through the pics
