Navydavesof - I forgot to mention the decals. They are from the kit and , while nice, are a pain to attach. The deck markings especially were a nightmare! The carrier film is only around the image itself so nudging things into place is very time consuming. But I do like the final result!

Wow - thanks for the support guys! I am truly humbled by the magnificent work displayed on this forum and to hear praise from you guys is really great!  GTdeath13 - I work with Model Master enamels. The colors used were light sea gray for the ship and the choppers, and my own mix of dark gray for the decks. Navydavesof - I am in the midst of my next build, a 1/700 scale Graf Spee. 1/350 is my scale of choice, but this is for AAA Hobbies display at the Chicago Hobby Show in October. Man, do I have a great respect for modelers who build in 1/700!! Tiny, tiny, tiny parts! It's hard to just manipulate the parts in your hands! As far as modern US Navy I will try to get some pics of my USS Cole (1/350) that now lives at AAA Hobbies. When I finished her I didn't have a working camera! mstaz, What's next, man? Are you going to pull out another Burke variant like Momson or perhaps utilizing a Forrest Sherman for one of the newest ones with Phalanx back on it? You know, the Navy's contengency for putting Harpoons on the Flight IIA ships is to put them criss-crossed amidships on a platform spanning the O1 level between the two stacks. That would look pretty sweet, man Aso, what decals did you use? Are those the ones in the kit or did you get your hands on another set? I look forward to hearing what your next project is! mstaz,

Thanks for the replies! A little encouragement goes a long way!  Navydavesof: I spray paint the whole kit on the sprues first, then as I get sub-assemblies done I wash, dry brush and pick out any details by brush. Gloss coat for decals, then a final flat finish. Thanks for the reply, Charles! I thought about how to display the choppers to best show them off . As you said, they approach and land facing forward - but I just liked the way it sits facing the stern. I wasn't sure about inside the hanger - but I wanted to display the clear windows on the chopper - and I like the way it looks peeking out!
You know, I did not know about the rubber portion of the dome. Thanks for the tip! That's what I like about this forum -great support and info! Again, thanks for lookin' and giving advice. Much appreciated!

Very nicely done! Two comments that might be helpful from some one who served on 4 USN cruisers/destroyers. First helos always takeoff and land facing forward and so they always sit in the hangar and on the flight facing forward. Second, the sonar dome has a black rubber window. There are pictures of on www.navsource.org and the US Navy website that show the dome. These are easy corrections that will make your nice model that much sharper.
