The ship looks real good.I like the different colors you used throughout on the horz. decks but can't really tell what colors they really are.Can you list what used ? I'm doing the Bronco model and it has one color for everything horz.

Hello
Without having red throug the whole thread...is the 1/350 New York from Bronco the same mold as MRC/Gallery and Revell? If not, is the a comparison between the two available?
thanks Uwe

Martin, that is because I brought a bottle of tiny brass chips with me and sprinkled them on your Iwo Well, I am surprised that i am adding an update to this, as I never go back to a completed build, but I just couldn't resist. Since I was making flags for another build, I decided that the New York needed a little more on her yardarms, so... She got a touch of class. A Marine flag, and since she is the New York afterall, and I am a lifelong Yankee fan (Don Mattingly is still my favorite), she also got a spiffy NY Yankees flag! I also completed the flightdeck, as I had never gotten around to adding any crew or tractors back there and since I had her out of her case, I figured now was as good a time as any.

That NY is mine when it was at mosquito con this spring. Guess we did not get any pics of the 2 gator freighters together. I think I figured out the file sharing thing, so I should have a good # of reverence pics for you tomorrow.

Look for my WIP thread probably starting next week I'll also maintain a WIP thread on modelersalliance and eScale, but most of those guys are cars and armor. Because of file size restrictions, I'll link to my blog for which I'll open a page just for the LPD,

Have just ordered my LPD-21 and Detail Kit, excited to build this one and will follow your WIP closely. Are there any other good sources you can direct me too getting started on such a project? V/R, Shannon -Marine CWO stationed in NYC/Long Island cwobeaman@gmail.com

Many thanks fellas! This was certainly a fun one, I may have a commission or two for this class farther down the road, I will probably use the bronco kit on one of them in order to do a comparison build of the 2 kits, but I can highly recommend this gallery kit. Going to be interesting to see the aftermarket stuff that comes out for it. Glad I built it right away so I was not tempted to go all out on extra PE though!

Ryan! I had alot of fun reading your write-up about this build! I am truly blown away by your quality of work/timeline ratio! Not that your building skills aren't awsome anyway, but when I see the dates on your post, it just blows my mind to see that much work done AAAND so nicely AAAND in such a short time! Another beautiful build, well done! That water looks really realistic, I later might have questions about how to make it look this nice! I am glad your "addiction to detail" took this ship to a higher level than BBO. Thank god for weak people:) keep building stuff and keep posting! Cheers: Laci

I had to jump in one more time and say WOW! Once again I'm impressed with how great the water looks in the well decks. I wish I had the guts to try that.
Your write up on the ships of the day page today is great, and you did an outstanding job of taking the pictures. Now put her under glass, and start that Iwo Jima. LOL

Thanks a lot guys, it was a quick fun build, I enjoyed it and am pretty happy with it, and especially proud of myself that I resisted my urges to go super-detail crazy.
Keith- that will be a really cool display with yor Wasp, Martin's Iwo Jima and my New York; we will have all 3 of the gallery models ships on the table and it will be neat for people to see what can be done more or less OOB with these 3 kits (with the exception of your few backdates and my well deck, I think Martin did a true OOB). Shows that they can be made to look really nice without a fortune in aftermarket and / or scratch additions.
Well, I can call this one done. She is mounted on her base, and I will be making her case shortly, the name plaque for her base is on order. With the exception of another osprey and maybe a few crew members, I have no additions planned to her. Since on these ships, the anchors recess completely out of sight into the hull, I decided to have one of them hanging jsut for a little visiual ingterest.
A few finished shots, and the rest will be in the gallery shortly.
