Thank you all very much for your kind words! I received the machined brass barrel yesterday and have just installed it; now the model can be fixed on its base - and I can start a fresh project All the best from Frank

Thank you all very much for your appreciative comments!
I really like the look of this class of ship, to me they are among the best looking contemporary warships - so it´s great to have one on my shelf now.
Best regards
Frank

Agreed T23 is a great looking little ship.
Your model looks really convincing. A clean build with just the right degree of weathering = very convincing.
I hope to do mine justice like yours when I find the time for it!
Simon.

Looks great!
Thank god the PE vs plastic issue is not so common place in 700 scale, but still had to do the hub in 3D when putting on PE props!

Trumpeter 1:350 HMS Montrose (04545) |

Hi all, I´ve always liked the type 23 frigates, and finally I got a kit to build one. A friend of mine took a lot of pictures of Montrose at Plymouth in 2011, Trumpeter released a kit, and so I chose Montrose as my subject. The kit goes together very well, but isn´t free of the typical Trumpeter glitches. Even though the boxart shows the proper Kryten turret, you get the original HMS Kent kit with the old style turret and old style 30 mm guns, and Montrose decals only. Well, my friend happened to have a spare Kryten, and I packed the 30 mm guns into "tarps", plus I got the fine WEM PE set, so off I went and just built it. The base was built as usual with me, from a fine grain insulation foam board cut and shaped and filled and sanded and coated with wall paint, spraypainted and sealed with varnish. The Lynx received not the PE rotor blades, as they were thin but virtually without structure, but rather the nerverwrackingly flimsy clear styrene parts sanded down to within a few stray microns of their lives. Figures are the excellent NorthStar resin items, rigging thread is UNI 8/0 and caenis flyfishing thread. Paints are Vallejo. Best regards Frank
