Best wishes!-- and do ensure you study all printed materials / plans etc of the ship; I do "" THINK "" my model- within the confines of scale and knowledge of the vessel ... is fairly accurate .... I do hope you can create a build log here also-- that way I can assist IF you need me --I have ALL the books.... Cheers JIM B

apologies for late answer Marjinn!! - How did you make the yards? Did they come from the kit, or did you 'turn' them yourself, or ... ?I used and adapted the generic 1/350 yards from Master-models-- always shortening the longer yards gain some 'meat'... - How did you attach the yards to the masts? Simply butt joined with glue, reinforced with some thin rope? Or another way? Nope--far too much loading( and unintentional movement!!! ) with the sails and rigging needed--I attached them with a small double loop of caenis thread and secured with CA - I cannot see on the photo's if you ended up adding the parrel ribs or not? I intended --and should have done so... but it was all getting a bit crowded at yards and platforms... I worried it might all get over-scale and look clunky .... so... decided that in this instance ' less would be more' !! Best wishes JB

The transformation from that crude kit you started with to now still amazes me, Last year my parents and sister drove up to Saint Augustine, FL and while there they were lucky enough to go onboard " El Galeon" replica of the 16th or 17th century spanish tall ship. My father was blown away by the workmanship of the ship itself. Crossing the Atlantic on something like that has to be exhilarating. The crew told my dad they use sails most of the time but in case of lack of wind they crank on the diesel engine i plan on visiting the old city in the future but i'll make sure of visiting when she is docked over there. She is definitely a sight to see even on pictures! Jose

Jim, when I started following this thread I had great expectations - but the finished model is even more brillinat than I could ever have imagined. What a magnificent piece of craftsmanship this is but actually much more - real fine art. Maybe this artistic approach is what sets your work apart and makes it instantly recognisable. I mean there are really only a handful of modellers whose builds ooze such a strong character.

Very convincing! Congrats, expecially for the sails!
It would be nice to see more kits of sailing ships done with the actual technologies.

Thank you for your heaps of praise gents! @ Cropredy The flag artwork I can send you ( and anyone else ) free of charge-send me your e-mail addy in a PM or mail me at jbys1@tiscali.co.........uk <=== ( remove extra dots !) They were printed on good quality printer paper ; the paper was then de-laminated ==> to make it just about as thin as a decal and glued using thinned white glue / PVA see here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=163736&start=120#p714925

I showed the final pictures to my wife and she said it must be a well-executed drawing. Then I showed her the shot of you holding the Mary Rose + base in a vertical position bow-downwards and her reaction was as amazed as mine. Since there's no way I can do as well, perhaps I'll model mine buried under a pile of mud as your feat of craftsmanship is unsurpassable. Well-done.
BTW - will the decals be available for sale (flags/streamers)?
