Yeah, i was thinking of getting one and making a replacement for the Blue Ridge class C&C ships.

Command & Control for an LPD might be possible, though I'm not sure what equipment, sensors, and aircraft it might carry. I just recently bought a 1/350 SAN ANTONIO class LPD and am trying to decide what to build it as since I never like to build anything straight from the box.
I'm not keen on the BMD role as we already have cruisers and destroyers for that.
I'm already building a hospital/humanitarian ship from a 1/350 WASP kit.
I'll let other people do the amphibious stuff.

Two other possible options that came to mind are:
a) Missile Range Instrumentation/Tracking ship
b) Large Science/Oceanographic/Research ship

Could either of those two options work as potential model whifs and/or as real world ships?

Good afternoon guys!

I was looking around for references on the flight II version of LPD-17, and I saw a command and control ship as part of the proposal. What would you guys think that vessel might have equipment and aircraft wise? Similar to the Blue Ridge class in terms of electronics or something new? SH-60s or V-22s? Or would you leave it as huntingtoningalls has it? What is your idea of a good command and control ship? http://www.huntingtoningalls.com/flight2/Image
