I have alas been off the radar recently-( 1/1 scale work !! )

- that is a lovely balanced looking vessel

and a nice model thereof!

Glad to see you are still at the bench!

Truly inspirational!

This is one of those "how did he do that?" models we only see from masters.

Beautiful!!! Very well done and presented. I like the furled sails a lot!

Many thanks for the build log too!

Cheers,

As I suspected, this one has been a bit of a "damp squib," with very little interest anywhere! :( Anyway, here is a "free" download link for the 13-page build log for anyone that may be interested:

If you put "barque East African" in Google search, history, painting, photographs, newspaper articles etc will appear. Most of ship's life she was painted grey, but when new, had painted ports as in model. Completed 1895, converted to storage hulk in 1918.
Scale 32 feet to 1 inch. Scratchbuilt. Hull, bread and butter construction from obeche wood. Scored decks, paper plating. Masts and spars a combination of brass tube, brass rod, copper rod, silver steel rod. Rigging, 100% fine copper wire. Hull length, 7.7 inches on waterline.
Not a very popular subject (merchant ship), but I prefer them to warships!
