Nice and clean build! Though I would recommend you to use something other than the popsicle sticks. There are many, e.g. Balsa, Styrene plastics, etc. Anyway if the popsicle is intentional, that's very OK!

Edit: I just saw your HMAS Anzac last night and must say the sticks work really well!! Just ignore my suggestions above!

Looking forward to seeing more of your builds!

Dear Forum,
Hi! :wave_1:
I’ve been enjoying many hours of reading and viewing people’s progress with their ship models and I am completely amazed at the level of skill and artistry. So much so, I feel rather intimidated that my work won’t be nearly as good, but on the other hand I feel inspired to keep trying and learning.

I must say a big thank you to all the forum members for their amazing models and for the encouragement I’ve often read amongst each other. After seeing the camaraderie of the forum I decided to join and I feel inspired to continue with my model building. I’m not sure how pretty my next model will be but even novices like me have to start somewhere.

I started a goal to make a model ship out of popsicle sticks (aka: paddle-pop sticks; ice-cream sticks; or craft sticks (I’m sure they have different names all over the world) The first scratch build model (not including those from my youth) I completed was a bulk carrier very loosely based on the ship below. I did not have any blueprints so I drew them myself, which turned out to be a big project as well!

The ‘Tucker Hall’ is a made up name and does not represent any real current or historical ship. She is 60cm (23.6”) long.
As you can see, she is very rough, I’ve done a poor job with sanding and painting (I could never colour inside the lines even as a kid! LOL  ). And the detail work also shows that I’m a beginner. Apart from the paint, glue and paper decals, she is made totally from popsicle sticks.
With the hatch covers and Superstructure removed:
