Hi guys, its been a long time since I've been here and worked on Garibaldi. It took a Facebook post from a friend to give me a kick in the right direction, it was a memory from 6 years ago when they were at the Task Force 72 Regatta and it got me thinking that in 6 years I have not finished one project! I have so many unfinished ships in various stages of construction!!! This hit me hard and made me have a look at myself and look at managing my time better. So I decided to tackle one project at a time and once that project is done move onto the next. Well that is how I want it to be. Garibaldi was at the top of my unfinished list and was placed on the build table. After chatting to some of the lads down here I've had great support and a few doubt that I can only work on one project at time. Going through the cardboard finding her bits and pieces has brought back a lot of memories. Firstly I finished off her starboard rear walkway and under hang supports a long her starboard side (I had these laser cut years ago by Defence models and graphics) with working on Garibaldi I've had a mate offer his 3D printing skills and he has done some exceptional work on her large and small deck cranes, the two motor launches located on Garibaldi's Port and Starboard, her countless drum winches and capstans, SPS 52, large fenders mounted on the superstructure and small dinghies on her rear deck. I've spent 5 weeks marking, drilling and gluing Garibaldi's flight deck tie downs (massive job) working on her superstructure at the moment. Scott

Great job. Always found it a good looking ship (as with most Italian ships). Some very sharp building there. Hope to see some color on it soon!

Thank you Norbert for your kind words I have missed some posts for Garibaldi! We had the National Regatta in November 2016 for Task Force 72 in South Australia so I wanted to take Garibaldi for a run at the Regatta even though shes not finished it was still great to sail her with the other guys even if she was the smallest carrier there She ran like a dream the whole time never missing a beat which was really great, since then I'v done some of the handrailing around her superstructure and I'm working on her Port side cat walks! slow progress but still moving forward on this project! Scott Sailing at the 2016 Task Force 72 National Regatta Sorry about the poor quality of the photos my phone is not happy with my computer Was working away for six weeks and thought be good to take Garibaldi with me to work on her Flight bridge handrails Upper starboard handrails Flight bridge handrails Flight bridge handrails flight bridge handrails Port side flight bridge handrails Upper handrails Port side cat walks Port side cat walks

A friend of mine in Task force 72 asked me for some pics of Garibaldi with the hull and Superstructure together, I have taken some but I don't really have the room in my shed so I haven't got the whole ship in the photos yet but I will soon. Hi guys, been busy working on the Nav bridge this week. With the nav bridge walkway pattern made I set out to make the small frame work that supports the stainless steel mesh. much easier to make on the bench then on the model. finished the bracing and ready for the stainless steel mesh. Test fit of the mesh, I used the cardboard pattern from the frame to cut the mesh. after I was done with the mesh it was time for the radar and aerail platforms to be made and fitted. Under side view of the new radar platform Port side view Blast sheild looking back at the nav bridge

Hi Aop, thank you for your kind words and taking the time to look through my build. Yes Bruce is correct in saying that it's not my first model, I have finished two ships in the time that I've been working on Garibaldi. One of those is on here HMAS Canberra here is a link viewtopic.php?f=13&t=156347My other complete ship is HMAS Sydney a Hobart class destroyer both 1/72 and some unfinished ships too lol never enough time. It's been way too long since I've worked on Garibaldi! Sorry for the late reply Sean and Tegunn. Sean I have a couple of Agusta Westland AW101 Merlins, 5 AV-8b Harrier II Plus jets and some ground crews to go on, but I'm going to leave these till last just need to get this project done. Tegunn thanks for your kind words So I've jumped back into this build again trying to pick up from where I left off first I grabbed the two piece rear deck ceiling filed and sanded to fit inside the hull, reason for this is to be able to remove and gain access to the rudder as well as detailing the boat deck areas. Still lots of work to be done in this area but should be easier with these being removed. I think it was about a year ago I started working on the Bridge window walkways, only having completed half the flight bridge! I have now finished both. Flight Bridge Nav Bridge Started making her additional platforms that Garibaldi has on her Superstructure, these were made with the help of making cardboard patterns first and then building the frames from them. This made it a lot easier as well as testing for size on the model as I have no plans just photos to go by. One of the patterns The two forward weapons radar platforms fitted and the pattern for the Nav bridge walkway New Scott dome platform made Ladders and new platforms

Sean I have a couple of Agusta Westland AW101 Merlins, 5 AV-8b Harrier II Plus jets and some ground crews to go on, but I'm going to leave these till last just need to get this project done. Tegunn thanks for your kind words :thumbs_up_1: So I've jumped back into this build again trying to pick up from where I left off :heh: first I grabbed the two piece rear deck ceiling filed and sanded to fit inside the hull, reason for this is to be able to remove and gain access to the rudder as well as detailing the boat deck areas. I think it was about a year ago I started working on the Bridge window walkways, only having completed half the flight bridge! I have now finished both. This made it a lot easier as well as testing for size on the model as I have no plans just photos to go by.
