It sure has being a while since last update with some very good news indeed, the hull construction has now being completed and moved onto the funnel deck and funnel construction which is finished, yeah has taken 3 years to get this far, I thought I wouldn't there.
Now I am working on the bridge, finished the ships accommodation block, haven't being on it for a week now, being working on my layout during the day and the bridge is also completed ready for painting tomorrow , that has being a struggle indeed, changing different designs and came up with my own which worked pics to follow.
First two pics of the last bulkhead in place, 30 bulkheads later and the final hull panel being glued together, wow couldn't believe I finely did it was on a high that night.
Third pic of the funnel deck and funnel base glued in place, fourth pic of the front round shape of the funnel was not an easy task but got there, fifth pic of the real funnel, I haven't done any work on the detail of the top of the funnel as yet, wanted to move onto the bridge.
Sixth pic of the back of the funnel, will have panels to build, final pic of the funnel deck got a lot of detail to do there, be a while off .
Corona Sea is now looking like the real ship I am modelling, in some ways I wish I started on the R/C version .

Here she is all four hull section joined up at last, the second stern hull section not yet finished but well under way, I glued in the two bulkheads at each end, she looks stunning indeed, when finely finished will be be mind blowing.
I am itching to glue in place the next bulkhead that will start off the top deck, where the white meets the blue line , probably have to glue in the next bulkhead as well , I am hopping to get the scale letters for the side of the ship, the logo on the funnel be easy to copy.
At long last she is looking like the ship I am modelling, on a very big high.

Has being awhile since last update, at long last I have finished the stern hull build and ready to make a start on the third and final section that will make up the hull.
First two pics and the last pic Corona Sea's sister ship leaving port, is what my model will look like when finished not far away, third and forth pics the stern rope room windows, as close as I can get, still more work there, I may just blacken out the smaller rope holes, cardboard doesn't drill well .
Pics five and six, I am looking at using a pulley system to open and close the stern ramps, plenty of room for the motors and gear boxes on the single stern ramp, longer shaft to the double stern ramp, will that work I still will have the hydraulic rams for show, need some advice on how to tackle that.
It has at least being four years since I started planning the ship, never thought I would finish the stern hull section, one more section to build, during the day I am working on the railway bridge that the ship will sit, which now has a underneath water line clearance of 2 feet.
The bridge being the main feature of the layout, will have an above arch 2 feet high from rail deck with 14 foot main span, be a stunning site indeed, I am planning a Ro, Ro port as well for two ships.

Hi will, hope you are copping well with those restriction in NSW, won't be lifted for at least an another month .
Many thanks, haven't done much progress on the ship's stern for a couple of weeks, back on it tonight want to finish gluing the second side sheet on the port side and same on the starboard side then cut the upper deck.
Then the main hull of the stern section is finished, yes I have done so was easy used tooth pics for the shafts worked out well, big job to build working hydraulic rams.
How is your destroyer build going is it fished yet.
Tony take care

At long last I have finely glued in place the last bulkhead for the stern section which is 537.5 mm's in length, x 4 times give the length of ship, also finished the stern rope room that has one triple winch, details to come later.
Next step is cut and glue in place the 2 mm thick hull sides, have worked out the the height on both sides, will then start looking like the stern of Corona Sea the ship I am modelling .
Pics one and two the rope and stern winch room, where the access door from steps is the floor I be gluing in place so I can fit the steps which works out to be 12 mm high at 3 mm steps. I will work out the height of the hand rails , the middle of the second rail to the top of the rail is the height of the black rope supports at the entrance to to rope room .
Third pic of the starboard side rope room windows , forth pic she has her fist three containers, the container on the to deck close to where I have started building the section the funnel sits on.
A lot of work still ahead, once done as far as I can go will start on the next and final section to the ship, be the easiest section to build.

Hi will, many thanks yeah I started the building program Wednesday night after a 10 week absence, before Christmas moved to a new address not far away in the next suburb, to a unit, has a good size back yard big enough for my layout which has to be rebuild, pic to follow, keep an eye out for your email.
Last night finished cutting out and gluing the together two pieces that made up the bulkhead and cut and glued the frame work between the two bulkheads, I make use of the off cuts.
How is your ship build going.
Hope you weren't to affected with those bad bush fires, most of NSW burnt out. don't here of any fires burning up here, we have had wild weather, 220 mm's in two days

Being a while since last update, just moved to a new address and settling in, I have closed in the wall between the main deck and single ramp, only have two more bulkheads to cut out and glue in place, takes time, hopefully back into ship building tonight.
The first pic of the real ship where I am working on the model, pic one and two is the start of the star case to the upper deck, pic two where the cut out is to the end bulkhead is the stern rope room, lots of detail there, there is three level set of steps to the rope room. Once the last bulkhead is in place will cut out the main deck and upper deck floor, paint and mark the trailer lanes.
Last two pics different photo angles .

Advancing well since last port, the single ramp is now in place and glued in place two more bulkheads from the stern bulkhead, being working on the divider wall for the single ramp, not easy, but finely making progress, the wall is not straight down near the single ramp stern bulkhead the wall goes on an angle for a couple of bulkheads and then straight for 24 mm's
Pic 7 links up 4,5 and 6 pics, pics 5 and 6 the join of the wall you wont see as I will be gluing in place a second wall making the wall 2 mm's thick, on the plan pic 7 the first arrow is where the join is and second arrow is where the wall will finish and goes straight.
Tonight I will finish the wall and the next bulkhead will go where the second arrow is, sure a lot of work but worth the effort, is oo hot to work on my train layout, the weekend is out 35 degrees ouch be in the nice cool hobby room.

Morning Will,
Yeah has, I have started work on the ship again , it is slow work when having to cut the bulkheads out of cardboard and then glue them in place adding support card takes time. Last night I glued in place the second bulkhead and cut the middle pieces that strengthen two bulkheads, haven't starboard side yet was getting pretty hot with the light .
Where the trailer is, it be a lot higher to where it is in the pic, the second pic is where I am working on my model of the ship, the single ramp ends into the next section, can't glue the ramp into place till all the bulkheads are finished will take a couple about a week.
I plan use either plastic or brass tubes with brass rods for the hydraulic rams , hopping the hobby shop will sell brass pieces for the end of the ram to hold it in place same at the top of the ram, going to the hobby shop in a couple of weeks hanging out till then. I need to buy more HO scale Peco track joiners and plastic joiners will send you some progress pics doing great guns, working on the layout today, working on the northern ramp coming off the bridge to the back of the layout dropping 7 inches have dropped down 3 inches already 4 inches to go on a 40 foot ramp.
Look forward to seeing those progress pics of you gluing the prop shafts in place.

G'day Tony, its been a while for both us. Haven't had the time to put into mine for a while but have bought the uni joints to connect my newly bought motors to the prop shafts and I will shortly begin cutting my hull to install it all. Glad to see more progress on your ship - it is certainly more complicated than mine!. What are you going to use for the hydraulic rams? I guess it will be opening remotely or by hand?. Hope you are well and talk to you soon, cheers, Will

Hi Chris, many thanks will for sure, I am working on the stern section, the ship I building in 4 sections have four more bulkheads to cut out and glue in place, will be bracing each bulkhead as I go, I can get two bulkheads out of one sheet of 1mm cardboard.
I cut out two halfs and glue them together, making the bulkheads 2mm thick, she is 2.150 metres long by 305 mm beam, height about 15 inches high from water line, I plan to build a remote control model of the same ship, this build is a learning curve,, scale is 1/87 scale, my other main hobby is model trains.
Have the trailers and the containers, be working on other loads, they have a cassette system where the put stuff on line the wind turbine parts and trains, pluss paper rolls.

Hi Will,
Thanks, I have being working on the stern section cutting out and making the bulkheads, be a few, will make what I need and then glue them onto the keel base plate, at ot of work like the bow section.
Yeah I have made the hinges, close to the the ones on the ship, marked and cut the slots for the hydraulic rams, needs to be tided up, will do that when the bulkhead is glued in place, the hinges on the ship go right down to the plat the bloke was standing on, I will do the same.
Have you being doing any work on your layout before it gets too hot and how is the destroyer going is it finished, have you seen on TV that at the news agent you can buy a mag on the Bismark Battle ship every month of week, be pretty costly ship when built, will look into it to see if it is worth the effort.
Was going to work on the ship tonight, after talking to my sister and texting to a mate blew that iea out, have to wait till Saturday night buuilding a new bridge, keep an eye out for your email will send you some pics.

Gadday Tony, how is it going?. You are certainly making good progress and man, is she going to be a big model. What did you end up doing with the hinges? Cheers, Will
