G'day Haanaya,

At about 45 degrees (maximum throw of my servo) they have about a cigarette paper thickness of clearance. very close.

Great build. Are those pods going to miss each other when they turn? I'm sure you've checked but they look very close. You should be able to pull a kyak with that thing.

I watched the video you posted, not how I plan to launch my boat when it comes to that time!

Good morning DavidP,
Apologies for not responding sooner. I am a night worker on permanent nights, so don't tend to look at the computer during my work time.

I have 3 LiPo batteries I was looking at using. I have 1 LiPo 2.2 (2200mAh) and 2 high discharge Lipo's (5000 , 2 cell at 7.5V).
The ESC is a water cooled 50A brushless marine ESC that is rated for LiPo batteries 2-6S.

The LED's, two different sizes, I will have to get back to you on their voltages.

I have also bought a number of Receiver light switches so that I could have the lights on different circuits.

This is the link to the two thrusters I bought https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/303431430536

I am looking to buy a new radio set for this model, likely a 6 channel, so I have several switch opportunities for the lights.

If I need to, and at your advice, will purchase what is required to make things work as I realise I have a mishmash of items.

If needed, I can take photo's of the items and post them.

Regards,
Gav

G'day all.
I have been working a lot recently (despite the Covid 19 thing) and as such, just haven't had time to scratch build anything, but I did find a model ship on "Thingiverse" (www.thingiverse.com) and printed it out. So, the main thing is, I will post the link for the page of the young fella who designed it and paste the link on where to get the print files.

It is the way of the future I suppose. I hope this will be considered a scratch build.

So, the link to the model to down load for a 3D printer is here... https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2192118

The link to his 2 part video on his construction is here...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaIjdgTiP0o&t=237s

and Part 2 is here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50CKuTlSi80&t=635s

He didn't provide a deck, so here is a link to a printable deck https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3829994

I have built one for my wife. It is approximately 900mm long, beam of 200 mm and a draft of 110 mm. Here are some pics.

I can take more pics if desired. It is a basic design and the hull skin is about 1/4" (6mm) and rather sturdy.

From here I would like to ask someone for some assistance in wiring everything up. Lights and ESC's. I am not very electrically minded and was going to put a steam engine in it (running on compressed air). But my wife (the Captain) wanted electric, so the engineer has swallowed his pride and is asking for those far more knowledgeable to show pity and provide some assistance. i can provide details of the ESC I have, batteries, as well, can indicate what LED's I have. Hope someone may be able to help me get the Ship running with a full set of lights.

Once this one is done, there is a Patrol boat on file I will print out and do up a thread for (if this is considered a scratch build)

File comment: Trying thrusters rather than the normal props and shafts.

File comment: Shot from the rear showing the thrusters. Didn't know how these would perform. They are hung through the rudder posts and I have a servo set up to turn them just like rudders with the ESC wires punning up through the rudder tubes.

File comment: Was able to print up some consoles to make it look a little more realistic, as well as old style ships wheel.

File comment: Starboard midships, shows some of the imperfections in the print. Hope to perfect this over time and remove such detractions from the over all effect. You can see and "alien" on the rear deck (another 3D print file)

File comment: View from the rear of the deck arrangement. Still have to do the hand rails on the boat/crane deck. You can see some of the LED's poking out of the rear of the deck.
