I wonder if it will play out like that. Off the coast of Sweden at least 3 more Russian submarines. С-6, С-2, Щ-305. There were cut position. The fate of many is still unknown.

False alarm. Now the media can stop panicking that Putin may have lost a sub off Scandinavia. (Unless you count Putin as a Czar himself ) Defense NewsQuote: Sweden Says Sub Wreck a Czarist Russian Vessel STOCKHOLM — Sweden said on Tuesday the wreck of a submarine found off its coast appeared to be a Czarist-era Russian vessel that collided with a Swedish ship about a century ago.
"We are most likely talking about the Russian submarine the Som (Catfish) which sank after a collision with a Swedish vessel in 1916 during World War I and before the Russian revolution," the Swedish Armed Forces said.
Speculation had been swirling about the origins of the vessel after Swedish divers announced Monday that a submarine had been found about 1.5 nautical miles off the coast of central Sweden.

That's a fantastic photo, Alexey, thank you for sharing it! It has been very difficult to find good photos of her to compare with the OceanX images. Also, your Som looks very different from this one: http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/bmpd/380 ... iginal.jpgDid she receive a major refit while in service? Edit: found out that Alexey's picture shows Som in Vladivostok, before it was put on a train moved out west.

Growing indications that it may just be the WWI Russian sub "Som", run over by a Swedish steamer in 1916. Hard to be sure due to lack of photos of Som in her last days (went through a lot of changes since she was built by Holland as the Fulton), but size and location seem to fit. The Cyrillic symbol ("hard sign") they showed is a holdover from the Tsarist days and no longer used in the way they showed (at the end of a word).

A repost: An unknown submarine wreck was found just 3km from the Swedish coastline. Described as essentially intact, seemingly post war origin, closed hatches and 20m x 3m dimensions. http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/framman ... kt-vatten/http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article21177742.ab
