Thank you for your compliments.
The Mk-38 gun director, designed at this time, includes brass shafts and motor parts,
so you can adjust the angle of the Mk-8 Radar antenna.

Hello Mr. Choi, I stand amazed at your fantastic products. Truly beautiful works of art and engineering.

Regarding the 5" mount discussion, hope this helps:

The renderings below were scaled from Navy drawings. They are accurate representations of the Mk.28, Mk.32 and Mk.38, three of the more common marks of 5"/38 cal. twin-gun mount. Each mark is noticeably, dimensionally different.

Careful study of photos of the Alaskas indicates that the mounts fit to those ships were most likely Mk.32. In the photo at bottom, glacis (turret frontal armor) configuration and bolts on the glacis strongly indicate Mk.32.

Dear Steve Larsen

I am Sang hyun Park, chief designer of Infini-model who is designing USS Alaska PE set.

Thank you for your information.
According to your information, 5-inch mount in USS Alaska seem to match the Mk-32.
I reviewed some data from the 5-inch mount in USS Alaska, and found that the 5-inch Mk-32 also has a variety of shields.
It is presumed that Alaska used a thick armor plate among the shields of the Mk-32.
This is because the 5-inch Mk-38 with a thin glove looks like a rivet head with a round head or oval head,
and the 5inch Mk-28 with a thick glove is a flat head rivet or bolt with a very flat top surface.
Image
In the case of USS Alaska, the upper surface of the 5-inch armor plate is flat, so I think that the Mk-32 armor has thick shield.

Most important parts of the 5-inch twin mount in USS Alaska is that there are unique devices installed only in USS Alaska

No, I don't mean you use the wrong name on that picture. Actually it is Trumpeter's foul, they moulded wrong 5''/38 cal. gunhouses, they look more like MK.28 than MK.32, even they are not exactly MK.28 because Trumpeter ‘added’ a ringer finder window on its right wall. I do think a perfect Alaska detail up set may need some resin parts to replace these 5''/38 cal. gunhouses.

You are wrong man, even that gun house has some inaccuracies as mentioned,HobbyBoss 5" gunhouses looks more like Mk 32 than Mk 28 ,I differentiate because the front face wall is narrower than the Mk 28

Hi, all

The Photo etching fitting of the super structure is almost completed.
Now the instruction manual editing is all that is left.
This Hobby Boss's USS Alaska Kit is not a box art picture of 1944,
but a kit of USS Alaska in 1945.

Dear W.H.min

I am Sang hyun Park, chief designer of Infini-model.
I now understand what you mean. I have compared 5inch gunhouse in hobbyboss kit with drawings and pictures of USS Alaska.
As you mentioned, it is certainly wrong to have two range finders on the right side of the 5inch gunhouse.
But it seems to be uneconomical to change the entire range because of the rangefinder problem.
Of course, if you want more precise detailing, it may be a good idea to replace it with a high quality resin product.

Yes that's right. If you remove only the rivet head on the roof of the turret,
the shape of the enclosure does not appear to be a critical error.

Thank you

I think USS Alaska used MK.32 instead of MK.28.

Dear W.H.min

I have no clear data on whether the 5-inch gun used in Alaska was Mk-28 or Mk-32.
The important thing is that the armor plate used for 5inch mounts is thick so that the rivet head does not pop up.
Thank you for informing us about 5inch mount in USS Alaska.
If your information is correct, we will change the name of the 5-inch gun on the picture.
