Topic review - black color for US camo?

A very dark gray looks better and more scale. Depending on preferred paint brand there are many options - "cockpit black" from Model Masters / Testors, tire/tyre black from various manufacturers are others in addition to those mentioned previously.

I use gloss black for the boot stripe, to make it stand out, especially since it was a coating and not a paint. For the black camo, I was using colorcoats Tyre Black. It's what I used on my 1/350 North Carolina build.

I would go with 2094 (RAL 7021 grey-black)

Hi everyone!

I've been sneakily perusing the galleries, and noticed that many of you paint the 'black' in US measure 32 a slightly lighter shade than the boot topping. Assuming that the boot topping is painted in flat black, what shade are you using to get that slightly lighter look above the waterline? I am attempting to find an equivalent in the Model Masters enamel paint line.

Thanks!
