Topic review - See Thru flight deck Question

so i screwed up.

I sprayed future to seal in the decals and the airbrush quit working. something blocked the air nozzle. by the time I got it fixed i had a splotchy finish on the flight deck.

I thought if I sprayed a heavy coat and hours later the finish has an orange peel texture. If I strip it, i might lose the decals. How can I make the finish look like glass again?

Another masking possibility may be Post-It Notes with the adhesive mildly de-tacked (press them against your arm a time or three to make them less tacky, and less likely to lift your decals). Even if you feather the clear coat, it's still a good idea to protect the part of the deck you want to keep see-through, as I've had many an unwanted surprise when I haven't.

yes they are decals. I'll think about feathering the edges making the top coat more of a satin than a flat

I agree. Safest thing to do is mask off the part of the flight deck you want to keep clear, and dull-coat the rest. Same principle as a canopy on an aircraft model you're clear-coating. If those are decal stripes on the flight deck, that could be an issue, in which case you could consider brush-painting a flat coat or using some non-adhesive mask method.

In my experience, yes it will.

If I dull-cote the surface of the flight deck will the see thru part become hazed?
