Hi quality vinyl for sign making might be an alternative. I recommend 3M 2 mil. Supposedly guaranteed 7 years for exterior work ! See the Want Ads section in FineScale Modeler magazine. There is a source for canopy masking there, who may do custom work for you if required. i.e. sheets of pre-cut plates ?

I think the paint seals the tape.

I've seen a few build logs where Tamiya masking tape was used to replicate hull plating. I'm keen to give this a go on a future build.

So my question is: is any additional gluing needed to ensure it stays stuck to the hull? Or is the tape tackiness itself (with a good buffing down) enough to keep it in place for years to come? I couldn't see any descriptions where PVA or CA or anything was used in addition to the tape itself.

Thanks in advance.

Darren
