Looking for hangar pictures of any Casablanca Class CVE, or just the area below and around the stern aircraft elevator.
I am building Hasegawa's Gambier Bay and would like to portray her with that showjng.
Thanks.

Does anyone know equipment locations in the gallery deck catwalks of Bogue class CVE's? Equipment such as aircraft fuel stations, fire hoses, life rings, ect... . I know that there were 2 fire plugs on the flight deck and 14 on the gallery deck but I don't know where.

I see, so it is going to be one of those quest kits where getting your hands on one may be even more rewarding and fulfilling than actually building the kit! ;)

Thanks Lester, I will look forward to your review!

The S-Models Gambier Bay is nominally 1/700.

In terms of length and beam it scales out to 1/740 (ish)

So, what scale is it a bit under?

Hi Lester,
yes, I saw that forum link as well. The kit looks quite nice, hope they will start to sell it soon. I have been so anxious when Hasegawa released their USS Gambier Bay in 1/350, hoping they would scale it down to 1/700... but it never hapenned. Let us hope this one will work out :)

Google translations from Japanese are always great fun. Can you imagine the outcome when you do the translation e.g. from Japanese to a minor language (like Czech)? It does it in fact twice in the background - from Japanese to English and then from English to Czech. The result is just fancy :-D

I had twigged to that, Lester; the translation just struck me funny. Right church, wrong pew.

Could've been the Wasp CV7

Hi Vlad -

I'm chasing that one as well, I've had a Chinese friend of mine do some investigation and I'm hoping to use another Chinese friend (and ship modeler) to get one for me as he is in China right now)

Here's what I've got:

to zaozaoyan
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3478348086?pn=1

I think that it is a plastic model of the Gambier Bay CVE73 – a famous ship sunk by the Japanese in 1944. Can you tell me anything about what this website says about it?

Lester Lolai

What I recieved:

1. 12-20 战舰】六分仪卡萨布兰卡级甘比湾号(CVE73)

Means: (12-20 warship) Sextants Casablanca rank Gambier Bay (CVE73);

2. 板件一览(还有一板通用件和舰载机没照进去)

Shows of parts (but didn't take photo for an universal part and carrier aircraft )

3. 和其他船的大小对比(埃塞克斯,光辉,大黄蜂,巴尔的摩,甘比湾)

Compare with the size of other's ship (Essex, Glory, Bumblebee,Baltimore, Gambier Bay)

Hello,
does anyone have any more details about the availability of the new S-model 1/700 Casablanca-class CVE mentioned at https://www.facebook.com/groups/659559407492511/permalink/692830367498748?
