I have a 1/96 scale model of Lord Nelson. I used a commercial hull by John Haynes? but all the rest is scratch built. All the turrets rotate and all 12 guns fire blanks. pictures on www.warshipmodelsunderway.com gallery 29. She is 52" long and weights about 40 lbs. Power is by two car blower motors (from a talbot horizon - very old car!!) runing on 6 volts. Geoff

The Danton class does look very fine when viewed at sea level. I love the 5 funnels. However, their tumblehomes made them awkward looking when viewed from other angles. (I don't think tumblehomes are necessarily an unhandsome feature, by the way.)
I think the looks of Japanese semi-dreadnoughts were marred by their bridge structures, which look like shacks or shanties.
The Lord Nelsons & Connecticut classes were handsome ships in my opinion.

Dear Boys & Girls, here are some more...... This one's quite interesting, and quite different from her supposed sistership Satsuma...... Attachment:

I wonder if Settsu classifies as an intermediate dreadnought? She had an all 12" main armament, but 8 of the guns were 45 cal and 4 were 50 cal which doesn't make for a uniform armament...... Attachment:

I am interested too. But their day in the sun was so brief, and they will forever be known as "not quite". BTW, did you know that Lord Nelson was better armored than any British dreadnough battleship prior to the Orion, and had better watertight subdivision than any British battleship prior to Duke of York?

Dear Boys & Girls, am I the only one fascinated by this generation of battleships? Neither one thing nor another...... Which ships classify as intermediate or semi-dreadnought? Here are some obvious examples? But we never see any models of them...... My favourite, the Danton class...... Attachment:

Apparently designed as an all-big gun battleship pre-dating the Dreadnought, but completed as something different, the Satsuma...... Attachment:

Imagine if we'd had to use the term Satsuma instead of Dreadnought to classify later battleships...... Terry ( Caravellarella)
