HI, Does anyone know if finally there is a 1/350 kit of Andrea Doria class ? EVA released a 1/350 kit of Giulio Cesare some years ago, but up to now, I have never seen anything about the Doria ?

How similar are the hulls between Conti De Cavour class and Caio Duilios?
Are they essentially identical? To a point one can use lower hull from like Andrea Doria and use it for Giulio Cezare.

These authors' Littorio Class book was excellent so if this one is to a similar standard it should be a very useful reference.

Are there any photos of the plaque on Cesare’s C turret? Was it removed during the war? I’ve seen it in a few photos but not in any detail.

Nice! I have the kit in the post, too. Colors are probably Grigio Chiaro and Grigio Scuro. I am going to use the lifecolor regia marina set for painting. I would also get this book from the library, when starting: https://www.amazon.de/Italian-Naval-Cam ... 1526735393

Here are some pics of the new Orange Hobby Caio Duilio kit. I have no idea as to the overall accuracy. There are 2 PE frets, sets of brass barrels for the main, secondary and 3.5-inch AA guns, decals including "DVILIO" for the stern, and a wooden stand that has to be assembled for a full hull build. There is a 6-page instruction sheet and a painting guide.
The paint guide needs guidance! First, it shows fewer red/white stripes than the CAD pictures of the model and the camo colours need clarification - "light sand" and "navy grey", with "deck ash" for the steel decks.
Does anyone know the actual RM colours? The scheme is similar to that worn by Vittorio Veneto in 1941 and the WEM site says the colours on VV were Grigio Scuro (dark grey), Giallo Verde (yellow-green), Bianco Sporco Opaco (matte off-white). Would it have been the same for Duilio?

As Orange Hobby released the Caio Duilio 1941 - did anyone yet checked this kit? I ordered it for Christmas, to have some opponents to my planned Queen Elizabeth and several british destroyers and cruisers in build or planned.

Various Soviet pattern radars, and single as well as twin Soviet 37mm AA guns are included. For myself, this version is VASTLY more appealing than her 1937 thru WWII appearance in the Italian NAVY. Please send photos to the gallery so we can all enjoy it. Definitely not something you see everyday.

Good morning (in Italy) everybody. I just saw the new thread and will follow it with interest, dealing with some important battleships belonging to the late Regia Marina. One question though: being two distinct class of ships, wouldn't they have deserved two distinct threads too?! Thank you for your comments.

With the new Combrig 1/700 kits of Cavour and Cesare out now, I was wondering if there was any difference between Cesare in 1937 (which is when the kit depicts her) and in 1940 when Italy entered the war?
thanks Mike

Does anyone here know if either Guilio Cesare or Conte di Cavour ever visited Venice during World War II? I'm wondering because the thought of using Loose Cannon's Venice diorama set with either of the two ships might be a possibility to build. Dr. Doom. It seems you forgot to add HP model kits of Guilio Cesare and Conte di Cavour on your list above..

Well, that's not surprising I think the RM detail set includes the light AA (37 mm & 20 mm), however, here's a drawing of the 37 mm Quite complex, as most of RM AA mounts; that's because the mount was manually stabilised by two additional gunners. About the 100/47 OTO Mod. 1928 twin mount; it was somewhat unique in that its trunnions were mobile, lifting up when the cradle was elevating in order to provide enough clearence for the breech recoil. The mount loosely looked like this Those are the poor reproductions I had done for my 1/160 RC Cesare, but there's enough detail for 1/700. I'll provide the drawing if needed. There's not a lot to do about the 120/50 turrets as those were quite featureless. Just note that the middle turrets were slightly larger than the others as they housed a firing computer for the whole group of turrets; they also had a small periscope on the right and a sighting hood on the left, which the other turrets didn't have.

I think I've found an applicable set from NNT, but I have to order the barrels from Europe as I can't find anybody on my end of the pond with them. It's not a big deal because I have to order the PE set straight from RM anyway... I think a big issue on the Waveline kit is the aft planking. The wood deck really wasn't cut out well in the resin, it looks reminiscent of an old Heller kit. I'm trying to finish this 1/700 Shokaku I've been working on an off on for about two years before I tackle the Cesare so I do have some more time to plan ahead. Another big area of neglect in the kit is the secondary armament. Everything is cast in white metal, and I can't find anyone that makes replacements.

Look for British 305 mm barrels: the real guns too were 305 mm rebored to 320 mm, so they retained the external dimensions of the 305 mm.

So I'm going to be picking up the Regia Marina Cavour class upgrade set tomorrow. I'm wondering though, are there any brass barrels that closely resemble the ones on the Cavour class? The kit's resin barrels are molded on the guns and seriously lacking...
