Guys, is the Niko or Combrig version of BB13 in 1906 fit better detailed/more accurate? Which would you buy today rather?

It's the closing bracket in the link - the forum doesn't know it's part of the link and so cuts it off at that point. Here's the fixed link (in situations like this, using the URL tag lets the forum know to include everything): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4cn7x3t0pgpm7tu/AACp1ycuDs3NcgkODeVGBjKla/BB13%20USS%20Virginia%201906%20(Class%20Leader)?dl=0&subfolder_nav_tracking=1

Taubman's online has plans: http://taubmansonline.com/MSCVIRGINIASPANAMER.htmIt is listed as including both inboard and outboard profiles. If you need plans of a US ship, and some other countries, that's your place. JoeP

I don't know of anyone that has the actual lines plan for the hull unfortunately....
But a hull can be built with deck plans and profiles using the bread and butter technique.... More work I know....
If there's a will there's a way....

DavidP wrote: thanks! That link has some info, but if this is the best one there is I guess I got a ton of work to do reconsiling those few 7-8 frames into bow and stern sections using I guess sculpting methods to some degree. . Stuff like this makes me wanna learn basic 3D printing so I could order the "ribs" to be printed in correct sizing.

Do we have any full hull drawings / plans (cross section also) of BB13 Virginia or its class?
Need those plans to build it full hull.

Hey guys, Fine Waterline just posted a series of my photos of the builder's model of BB-13. She resides in the Hampton Roads Naval Museum on the 2nd floor of Nauticus in Norfolk, VA. You know the big maritime Center where BB-64 is berthed Should provide a nice bit of reference. http://www.finewaterline.com/pages/albums/virginia/uss_virginia_bb13.htmlThe model was built by the Washington Navy Yard in 1901 of pine wood and brass. If anyone needs anymore shots just let me know.

I Just looked that up - I notice the 6" tertiaries are just plastic sticks in the side - I have USS Oregon BB3 with the same issue, I also have a really old Revell 1:426 scale USS Arizona - I Took 4 of her 5"/51 sponsons off (with internal pedestal) and plan to cut out the sponsons ports, mount a box on the inside of each with the pedestal and sponsons from the Arizona and make the 6" pivot. (they should look the right size)

If any fans of this class can get to Nauticus in Norfolk, VA then I urge you to do so. They have the builders model of BB-13 made by Newport News SB circa 1909 or so. Its made of wood and brass, insanely detailed and about 10 feet long or so. Of the multiple plaques around it none note a scale however and its inside a glass case so its hard to measure. Her original bell is also hanging up nearby but needs some polish BIG time! Not sure if its on the list or they want to keep it "original". I have some photos of it already and intend to take more this week. http://s647.photobucket.com/user/CliffyB/library/USS%20Virginia%20BB%2013%20Model

Calling all USS Virginia Class Fans (BB-13 - BB17) |
|

Not much talk that I can find of these ships.... but being in Georgia, one of the first ships I started for my entire collection of 1/700 USN Battleships was the Georgia.... I have come back around to it and want to try to finish it because I am running out of space on my work bench to start new projects (which is what I do best haha!)
Has anybody else built any of Combrig's 1/700 Virginia class kits or is anybody working on them?
