Still on IJN pre-WW I cruisers:
I am working on the 1/700 Sealsmodels Itsukushima/Hashidate. Trying to establish the time period represented by the kit.

I see eleven 120mm guns and six 47 mm guns. This seems to be and entirely different rig from the Modelkrak kit.

Does anyone know anything about this kit?
Thanks,
Rick

The 25.4 mm Nordenfelt machine guns are quadruple:

Here some photos:

A gun in the Orlogsmuseet in Copenhagen:

This could be a similar gun (on display in the Forsvarsmuseet in Oslo):

Also in Explosion! The Museum of Naval Firepower in Gosport is a example of this gun, but I my photos of it are not good.

hi Maxim

first, I want to thank you for all input and help. for my IJN Naniwa project...
I have search the web from english to russian, now I am on to japanese.. (with help of google translate.....)

you were saying that, 1896, mast and funnel should be in Buff... do you suggest Tamiya (kind of sand color) or WEM? Buff...
and how about air vent?

Thank Maxim

Buff would be very nice color combo, with off white hull. unfortunately I already painted dark yellow. however I can always tear the part out and repaint :lol_3:
to be precise i want my Naniwa color way to represent the day on Battle of Yalu. I have link japanese website on the bottom. It seems yellow it's the color... (or at least I hope it is...)

The funnel and probably also the masts should be buff (yellowish).

White hull is correct for 1896.

I think white hull would be ok mrwawa but I can't be sure about that. I have lost some files in hard disk crash and painting schemes of early IJN was one of them...

That depends mrwawa... photos of Japanese "light cruisers" indeed show them with white hull but most armored cruisers did have black hull.

Hi PetrO

Let me jump into this thread too, since I am working on IJN pre-ww1 cruiser. I have question in regards to color way of 1890's

From I have seen on internet, IJN color are white body, gun, gun shield, railing, yellow funnel, mast, vent, with thin black line on deck line.

and for deck color, I am thinking to use WEM IJN deck color. any advice?

thanks
