Thank you! I got the same explanation two weeks ago on board of HMS Westminster in Kiel. I still have to sort my photos.

One of the main differences is that the Type 911 Trackers are removed and a pair of Data Link aerials are fitted instead.

Sea Ceptor uses the same silo to save money, but each of the launch tubes are fitted with a "chimney" (a round-capped cylinder) to raise the height because the missiles are stowed differently from Sea Wolf. I think it also has something to do with the cold launch operation of Sea Ceptor.

What are the visible external differences after the LIFEX?

How the Sea Captor launcher looks like?

There is a drawing, but not very detailed:

Oh my, that's perfect, I was about to write MoD for help!:P I know nobody will see this as PE nets from WEM kit are thicker than real ones, but I like to know it's there;) I found two more references on my own, one is a PAINTING and there's a low quality youtube video showing part of the quarterdeck with new 2087 sonar installed. Once again, thanks for all the help!

Hi guys. I've just started Trumpeter's HMS Kent and got stuck at the very beginning. There's this area/room at the stern (below heli deck, covered by the safety nets) which is supposed to be builded in this kit, but I can't find a single picture of it. Also, I'm looking for photos of the lower hull/propulsion/sonar dome. And finally, does anyone know where I can find any plans regarding type's 23 rigging? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was lucky enough to get onto Northumberland in 2001 and allowed down there with a camera.

If you cannot see anything on this deck because of the safety nets, I would guess nobody can see something in case of your model, if you add the safety nets ;)

The exception could be the sonar, which is sometimes visible (if Kent has some, in 2009 I have seen none).

There is a plan of the class:

Here some photos of HMS Iron Duke I made, when she visited Copenhagen in May and Kiel in June 2016:

and her Westland Lynx Mk 8 helicopter:

The Type 23 frigates equipped as multi-purpose had Lynx helicopters and now will get Wildcat helicopters. The frigates equipped for anti-submarine warfare have Merlin helicopters.

Nice drawing of what a Type 23 would look like in Victorian colour scheme. Looks good in my opinion!

The page also has some interesting "what-ifs".

Found my Monmouth kit. It doesn't have Chilean decals either.

HMS Kent does not have Chilean flags. I can't get at my other kit at the moment, but if I do manage to, I will let you know.

Hi Chaps.
I've just started Trumpeter's HMS Montrose. I'm now aware of some of the errors in the kit, eg, the "Kryton" turret is not represented, the 30mm guns are the wrong type for this ship and the "Siren decoy canisters" are not included, there are probably more.
However, if you look at the "J" sprues, part no J40 and part nos D1 and D2. J40 looks like the decoy canister to me and D1 and D2 have holes marked on the lower surface which will need to be drilled through, it's just not mentioned in the instructions. The position looks to be correct but I'm not sure whether there should be four canisters or only two as supplied in the kit. Hope this bit of info saves someone a bit of hassle and if anyone can clarify the number of canisters, I'd be most grateful.
Now what do I do about the guns?
Regards.
Tony B.

With the demise of White Ensign Models, you guys may be interested to know that Peter Hall's Atlantic Models has produced a Type 23 set for the Trumpeter kits. 1/350 and covers all sixteen Frigates.

Even with the cost of shipping to USA it will still be excellent value for money..I'm using the set now on HMS Kent and I'm well impressed!

Thank you for the photos. The contrast between, particularly, USN and JMSDF, grays gives me a good idea where to put it in relation to other ships. I think I will hold off, for now, on the helo.

There is a 3D printed Super Puma helicopter by Kokoda Trail Models in 1/285:

https://www.shapeways.com/product/KGQTXP8FA/1-285-as-332-super-puma-x2?li=search-results-3&optionId=40503659

You can ask them - they are also here in the forum - if they convert it in 1/350.

Thank you all for the help. Removing items is much easier than having to scratch build additions! Did not know about the helicopter, and was surprised that it is actually smaller than the Merlin. Anybody make a resin one?

Regarding paint, it looks to me darker than Royal Navy Type 23s? Maybe a shade darker than the current USN haze gray?

Don't know if these help with the colours and chopper. I used to visit Chile for work and scrounged some photos while I was there.
