Re: Calling all Wichita class oiler (AOR) fans! |

I have the scratch-built hull of a Wichita. For a short while an Italian model maker made a model of the Wichita, but I missed ordering it, for the upper works and details, and it is no longer available. I preferred my hull to that resin model as theirs had a solid space where the class has an open area below the flight deck, which I built in.
I might take mast, cranes, booms, winches and other details from a Sacramento class, which would require adaptation of course.

Sorry- thought I did respond.....
I would be interested in a 1/700 scale kit (I think there was a resin kit, but I missed out on that opportunity), though I have been slowly gathering info for plunging into an attempt at scratch building it. I wonder how some of those 3d printed hulls would look in 1/700.....
Regards, Timothy

Yep, that's what I have, although from a different source. So, does someone want a model, and at what scale?

Many moons ago in the 2005 National Convention, there was word that Iron Shipwright was working on a 1/350 kit. It is mentioned in the following article from the "other: site: http://www.steelnavy.com/IPMS2005Nats.htmFor some reason, this never saw the light of day.

1/350 USS Wichita AOR-1 |
|
|
I have come across a partial set of plans for this ship class. Decks, Starboard side view, and several hull sections. I could put together a fairly good 1/350 wireframe in CAD. What interest is there in this?

I would also love to make a 1/350 USS Wichita! I would even be willing to try a scratch build of her if I could get a set of plans.

Calling all Wichita class oiler (AOR) fans! |

Does anyone know of a 1/350 resin or plastic model of the Wichita Class Oiler (AOR). I served aboard the Wichita form 73-76 and would like to add it to my collection. I am also looking for a USS Proteus AS-19 Post 1976 after the refit when they cut her in half and added the missile handling shop and crane.
