HMCS Moncton has been painted into a dazzle pattern to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic - original photo posted on the navy's Facebook page, with a minor straightening and clarity bump by me. The frigate HMCS Regina will also be painted in dazzle later this year:

Hmm...I think that your best bet would be to try to contact someone involved in archives. Perhaps Canadian Navy archives if there are any; I don't know much about this subject since I work mostly with Ocean Liners and Auxiliary Cruisers but I suppose it is worth trying.

Well Gord, is there any certain year or type of vessel you are looking for?

There are many plans on Google Images but perhaps you would want profesional grade plans...

Sean,
Having recently finished my posting as Coxn of HMCS WHITEHORSE I may be able to provide some help.

Currentlythe West Coast MCDVS have sports equipment at the aft end of the bridge - universal, treadmill, and a bike. Normally there is a bench or table depending on the payload carried on the sweepdeck. Right below the mast is the stairs going from the main deck/ops flats. If you model it with the door closed you can just put it as a rectangular space with the comms desk on the Stbd side, and the IFDMS panel on the port. Forward of this space is the chart table with a bucnh of gear and shelves on it.

Let me check with some people to see if I can provide pictures, or a good contact person for you to request them from.

Tim

Hey all,

I'm not sure if there actually are any MCDV fans, considering they're small coastal patrol/minesweepers crewed mostly by Canadian Naval Reservists, but that said, if there are some of you out there, I could use some help.

I'm in the process of building a 1/72 scale model of the HMCS Summerside. If I had any decent photos of my build I'd post them, but sadly, my Blackberry's camera is pretty poor for snapping shots of models. In any case, while I have a ton of photos and a set of plans, I'm missing info on one critical area--what the aft part of the bridge deck looks like. I have a photo of the two forward consoles, and one of the captain's chair looking forward, but my CL cutaway in the plans isn't distinct enough for me to make out what fittings on that deck look like--especially around where the central support for the mast would go. I assume it passes through the deck as opposed to simply being bolted to the roof, but again, I have no clear idea.

If anyone has access to a floor plan for the bridge deck, or better yet, a series of comprehensive photos I'd be forever grateful. Sadly, having been an army reservist, I know little about ships, and since I currently live far inland, trying to get aboard one of the class isn't an option either. I am hoping to get the project finished this year, as my own way to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Cheers,

Sean
