Getting ready to start a 1/720 USS Carl Vinson in the 2014 fit. I have the Italeri Carl Vinson 1999 kit plus GMM Nimitz class PE set. I am waiting for the Trumpeter 1/700 aircraft to arrive for her. I have done some WW2 carriers but have never done a modern one so this should be interesting. I will most likely throw in a WIP thread when I get her started.

A little progress on the Big E. The flight deck markings - decals from Starfighter - have been laid down. Attachment:

Very Nice Martin!
Thanks for sharing. One of the greatest travesties in Naval History not saving Enterprise from the cutters torch! She should be pier-side on the Potomac at the National Mall in D.C. as a museum ship.

Working on a 1/350 Merit USS Enterprise (CV-6). The kit is (mostly) out of the box, circa October 1942, at the time of the Battle of Santa Cruz. It's been an adventure, to say the least...but some of that has been self inflicted. Attachment:

Not my best work, but she's close to the finish line. When done, she'll be part of a display at the Rivervale, NJ library, were the name plate of the Big E is located. The library has become sort of a repository of Enterprise relics. Attachment:

File comment: The model will go in this display case, under where the open log book sits.

Hi Red,
I have Dan at Out of the Box doing a flight deck for Ranger. I think that he hit a snag in available data. Hope the America deck is coming along. I plan on doing America in 1/700 scale.

Indy on hold until I get the America flightdeck. That's because I would use the same company to make Indy flight deck.

Well I'm back.
I've gone and got the Arii 1/800 New Enterprise and I can conform that the post refit island is indeed 1/720 scale. Or at least, it measures the same as the old Revell 1/720 Island.
All the refit parts are on a separate sprue, and even if some might be too small to put on the Revell kit, at least they help to figure out what the add-ons should look like. I'll probably use them as-is however, maybe just shim the sides of the sponsons with some plastic card. With Starfighter decals and resin Hangar bits I can now rebuild my 30-odd year old model as post refit after the dogs decided to try to sink her. I have a newer issue kit to be built as well. So I'll still have one with beehive....
All the old style island parts are still in the Arii 1/800 box, bar one. The base square that all the panels are glued onto, so you still can't build it without some scratchbuilding.
Never mind. I bought it for parts anyway. I see Trumpy are planning a 1/700 CV-67, any idea when that will be out?

Hi all
After finishing my Tamiya 1/48 scale Tomcat I started working on my 1/350 Hancock again. It is meant to be an August 1945 version which is causing me quite some trouble due to an extremly bad resource situation. In addition to that the Trumpeter Tico kit I have leaves a lot to desire. It's rather basic and also requires a lot of putty and sanding.
cheers Uwe
