Damm the guns are to long, well that really sux since they are stuck there and I'm not going in to try and pull them out with the rigging in the way. its only a bit over a mil tho and considering her other flaws meh I'll live with it. It didn't even occur to me to check them before I put them in place.
Thanks Harry I'll get back to the dock after I have finished this.
Capt P. Sydney is on back order, and I have all the info I need now for a scratchbuilt Aussie River thanks to a gentleman here so I am all set to get stuck in to a bit of company for Australia. Just need to finish the dock first.
Thanks George and thanks to everybody for the help and encouragement through the build its been great. Regards Callum

Nice work Callum mate. I think the gun lengths are ok. Overall looking good. I am sure you will have a Diorama up and running soon for WWI . Cheers Capt-P

Looks really good. You've inspired me to add this together with Indefatigable to my stash. One thing you might want to check is the length of the barrel that protrudes from the turret as it looks a little long. I had this happen with some of the 13.5" barrels they do for HMS Tiger. Once I had added them I thought they didn't look right and on checking plans it turned out that the aperture in the turret needed drilling out more and the barrels setting deeper inside to get the correct length.

Well had suprise in my letter box today, guess what decided to finally show up for the build she's not quite finished but heres a look with her main armament at last. Acrylic gel didn't quite go to plan as blast bags but they are just passable as a first attempt:) so nearly there thanks for looking cheers Callum

Thanks for the reply Jim. I have a couple of sets of different ultrafine raillings on backorder and they have been for quite a while now every time I try to get them somewhere else they are also out of stock or the prices are stupid for postage. I used the rails from the WEM Southampton set because I had them allready and I wanted to play. They do look abit much though, and the black is a little full on and needs toning down. I sprayed the whole fret black first and I was trying not to get to thick a coat Thanks for the tips I'll give those ago next time. whats driving me nuts is how the hell do I get in and fix up the handrails on this lot

Good to see trhe model reaching fruition! Good to see the railings and stanchions being differentiated in colour BUT... whose rails did you use-? - they look a little heavy on the horizontal cables I use the GMM Gold Plus and the WEM ULTRA fine I colour them on the fret using a permanent marker --with the fret laid on printer paper to absorb any excess so as to keep it thin and light Once installed I then paint the stanchions in situ and touch up the rails and a moist drybrush with a light to mid- grey wash stroking downwards... the idea being to have the top surfaces lighetr thatn the underside which is in shadow--the plan is to make the horizontals appear even thinner HTH Jim Baumann

Thanks Capt P, I'll have another crack at the colour whats there is from the tip of a toothpick, if the second attempt doesn't work I had the idea of painting a bit of masking tape to look like a canvas cover across the front to protect the flags from the weather (came to me while driving to work this morning) I think I may actually just do that

Well a splash of colour on a grey surface is not a bad thing, In that scale it maybe very difficult to do. 'The colours smaller in size' , thats the only thing I can add. But again its not a bad looking rep of the flag locker's. Cheers Capt-P

Thanks Capt P, not sure I should leave the splodges of colour on the flag lockers next to the forward funnel or paint them grey, any suggestions?

Thanks, she'll go into a pre WW1 at sea scene with HP's HMAS Sydney and HMAS Yarra an early Australian Destroyer. This will be scratch built mostly and will be an interesting exersize.

Well with some study of the photos I was sent, I've made a few changes and added a couple of things I missed like a couple of 4inch guns on the aft structure. I've circled roughly where its meant to be in the pic below So I've fixed this to resemble the postion, I missed the arrow pointing this out in the instructions. Still have to touch up etc but they are there I've also stripped the boats and derricks off the centre structure as it was all a bit messy how it was, but I think I got a better understanding of the area now. but more of that later Moving to the front I've removed some of the rigging off the lower yard to a better position it at the bottom. How it looked before how it looks now So all a bit rough around the edges and the camera flash really shows it but I hope you like it and once again a thousand thankyou for the photo's if you read this Cheers Callum
