Thanks nice to hear sth like that. I don't have dragon smartkit, I saw it only in the internet but probably in the nearest future I will buy dragon z-32 smartkit. I have to practise camo before I will start working with admiral hipper  .

Yes, I have both the Trumpy kit you have and the Dragon Z-39. I haven't taken the time yet to compare them "in the box" to see how much they differ in detail, etc.. As I said above, I really like a lot of the stuff in the Eduard BigEd set you are using, I'm just concerned about issues arising due to the thickness of the PE decks as compared to the kit decks that my scratch building skills just aren't up to coping with.

Did I understand you correctly to say that you have only been building styrene model ships for about a year? If so, you have certainly developed some great skills and techniques in that year. Your build really looks great. I'm very impressed with what you have done with her!

I have that kit in my stash and I'm seriously considering getting the detail up set you are using. It seems very impressive. My only concern is that the thinness of the PE decks would appear to necessitate a good bit of scratch building to account for the difference in thickness between the PE and the kit decks. My scratch building skills are nearly non-existent, to be charitable about it. Having gotten to the stage you are at, would you recommend that particular detail up set for someone with hardly any scratch building skills?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, she looks just fantastic. Great job there.

Bob

If I were you I would buy BIG ED. BIG ED is discontinue but you can still buy railings and details separayely. If you have luck maybe you will buy big ed somewhere.

In scratchbuilding I won't give you any advice because I have had only one year experience with plastic model. Still I'm learnimg and trying new working schemes which are good for me. In past I made only covers for square windows.

And I agree with you, trumpy model are good but main deck details are very ugly. Dragon's smartkit are much better in superstructure details, guns and mast but main deck is almost the same, without details.

tommorow I will be working with cable reel and belt for rafts on torpedo tubes and around funnel

With weathering I'm waiting for inspiration but probably I will try to make sth like that

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/inde ... eter-1350/

But It will be very hard I haven't had enough skill yet.
Z-43 didn't have very long career so I will make not too much streaks and rust.

Tedious work, to be sure, but a nice effect on those life rafts. Great job and good thinking.
