thanks for the info Jim... I have not had a lot of time this summer to work on her.... I have tied down the ships boats on the skids and added some of there handling tackle.. Just starting the head rail netting... Using a piece of typing paper for a template to cut the netting.... After this it will finally be time to start adding yard arms !

@ Bill much apologies-- I just caught up with this -- doh !! as a sailor and sailmaker I really ought to have spotted and assisted!! Yes===all the fore and and aft yards/ booms are articulated- - ie they can rotate sideways as well as go up and down-- as per excellent photo example above of Sagres --maybe my next project ! encs some images that may be of further assistance note that all the square yards can also rotate about the fwd face of the mast via the braceing lines HTH

Bill Code wrote: So I could use a little help on understanding how the spanker sail was lashed and rigged to Victory's gaff booms. I understand the sail was lashed around the upper boom and lashed around the mizzen mast.. It does not look to be lashed to the lower boom but just an attachment through the lower booms end and tied to a cleat on the lower boom near the mast ?? Did the upper and lower booms have some movement port and starboard or were they fixed in place 90 degree's aft ?? Seems they should have some movement... The instructions are not a lot of help... I have been using Rigging Period Ships by Lannart Petersson as a guide in her running rigging.. His example is a Square rigged Frigate from the period... Any help is appreciated .. Of course they have movement from port to starboard. They would be almost useless otherwise. Example: It's a more modern ship(built in 1937) but the principle remains the same.
