Hi Red,

I have Dan at Out of the Box doing a flight deck for Ranger. I think that he hit a snag in available data. Hope the America deck is coming along. I plan on doing America in 1/700 scale.

Indy on hold until I get the America flightdeck. That's because I would use the same company to make Indy flight deck.

Well I'm back.

I've gone and got the Arii 1/800 New Enterprise and I can conform that the post refit island is indeed 1/720 scale.
Or at least, it measures the same as the old Revell 1/720 Island.

All the refit parts are on a separate sprue, and even if some might be too small to put on the Revell kit, at least they help to figure out what the add-ons should look like. I'll probably use them as-is however, maybe just shim the sides of the sponsons with some plastic card. With Starfighter decals and resin Hangar bits I can now rebuild my 30-odd year old model as post refit after the dogs decided to try to sink her. I have a newer issue kit to be built as well. So I'll still have one with beehive....

All the old style island parts are still in the Arii 1/800 box, bar one. The base square that all the panels are glued onto, so you still can't build it without some scratchbuilding.

Never mind. I bought it for parts anyway.
I see Trumpy are planning a 1/700 CV-67, any idea when that will be out?

Hi all

After finishing my Tamiya 1/48 scale Tomcat I started working on my 1/350 Hancock again. It is meant to be an August 1945 version which is causing me quite some trouble due to an extremly bad resource situation. In addition to that the Trumpeter Tico kit I have leaves a lot to desire. It's rather basic and also requires a lot of putty and sanding.

cheers
Uwe

Once everything is settle after Christmas. Then I will start on my last Supercarrier CVA-62 Independence. She will be in 1966-1967 time. This will be my hardest project. The Trump Kitty Hawk hull is correct from the bottom to the hangar deck area. That hangar area has to be removed and rebuilt so that it would look like Forrestal class hull. The island very kindly made by Steve of ModelMonkey. Thanks again for that. That helps out a whole lot. So my Tonkin Gulf fleet continue to grow. Happy New Year Everyone! !!! :wave_1:

The 'yard always works better when I have a deadline to work for so I promised to take Melbourne to ESM in Houten last saturday. I also decided to take my not-started-yet HMS Glory with me in order to show where I started some years ago and Victorious also had to come along for the outing.
Melbourne is not fully finished yet as i still have to scratchbuild a crash crane but the airgroup is on. I went for a mid-60s airgroup, launching Fairey Gannets with a deck park containing Sea Venoms and Wessex helicopters while preparing to refuel one of her escorts. Its the kind of scene cold war era photographers seem to have been fond of though one wonders about the risk of doing both operations at the same time in a real war situation.

I could not resist showing one Gannet unfolding itself so it looked like a....gannet.

Fairey names seems to have been related to the looks of the aircraft though there are exceptions (swordfish anyone?). For the escort I was planning to do one of the anzac class destroyers and layed out the water base to do this but I found out that both of them were no longer serving as escorts by the mid-60s. So I took a deep breath and took the plunge... HMS Aisne is a somewhat radical conversion of a HP models Agincourt to a radar picket. Aisne arrived at the show with only half her type 965 radar. Luckily I found the other half and its glued on again.

Here is the SCB-27A Kearsarge. This is a 1/350 Trumpeter Ticonderoga CV-14 Kit with the Iron Shipwright SCB-27A resin update set. I did the blisters by adding styrene sheets to the sides and blending them in. It still needs a lot of work. The Island is from Model Monkey 3D Printing. The aircraft are L'arsenal Spads, Panthers, and Banshee's. Trumpeter Corsairs and a 3D Printed AJ-1 Savage.

Here are a few shots of the JFK with CVW-1 1969. I had to do a lot of modifying on the Island to return it to the original configuration. The Hanger Bay was scratch built with a lot of 3D Printed equipment from Greg at Bacon Fist Models.
