Superb, simply superb... that amount of detail, and the pace used alone is incredible... Almost incredible you've pulled it off in 19months... How much preparationtime can we add?

This is an incredible work done!
Thank You for this modelling journey! It is a shame that people who watch models/dioramas such as this will never understand the complexity of process...

Hello, The diorama is finally finished. This last message closed this post. To sum up. This project started in February 2017 and I finish it today. That's about 19 months of hard work. It represents characteristic elements of the port of Hamburg and the Bismarck in its state during the month of December 1940. Upon his return to Hamburg to set up the last elements of the ship. Baltic camouflage will be made after this date when returning to Kiel Over those 19 months, I spent about 6 months in front of my computer to draw and make PE board changes. In total for this diorama there are 37 different boards of PE in A4 format. All the elements of the dock part are in Photo cutout. With the exception of vehicles, and some resin diorama elements that come from L'Arsenal. The Bismarck is from Revell brand with the PONTOS Models detail kit. The painting used to make the livery of Bismarck are from the brand LiveColor. This mark was used to paint 80% of the other elements of the diorama. This is my favorite brand of painting. The cranes and the vehicles were painted with the paintings of AMO Mig. This set is not easy to photograph. I limit myself to the minimum of photos. Best Regars Alain.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment.
If I locate the action of the diorama in the first week of September 1940 or before his departure for the port of Kiel on September 15, 1940. It is true that at that date the Bismarck had telemetry on the turret A. Plus, he did not have his main telemeters.
If I locate the action of the diorama after the return of the Bismarck in Hamburg December 9, 1940. There, there is more incoherence. During his stay in Hamburg, the latest equipment was installed (main rangefinders). And modification of the turret A.
I did very little fouling or corrosion on the ship. On all the pictures of this time, have little to note that the ship was very clean.
I must have spent a lot of time researching the harbor facilities of the port of Hamburg at that time.
Once I had all drawn the cranes and other elements. I wondered what ship I was going to put in front of the wharf.
I chose the Bismarck knowing that this ship did not fascinate me too much. And I did very little research on it.
Best regards Alain.

Astounding work, and incredible in the details... I can only dream of the amount of hours to draw and build all those details.
One small remark though: shouldn't there be a rangefinder on the A-turret too in that period? It was only removed after high speed sea trials?

Hello
Thank you very much Nicolas.
Your port of Dakar is superb too. I move faster than you because it's my main activity (5 to 6 hours a day). You're still working and you have a lot less time to devote to your diorama.
For this one, I wanted to show a bigger activity. Because there is on the left of the diorama a building site.
I am amazed at the rendering with the painting and that suits me well.
Best Regards Alain.

Hello. Following the establishment. As everything is finished, there is more than the implementation to do and it is relatively quick to do. It must be said that I have this diorama in mind for more than 18 months. The wharf is finished. Remains more than a small layer of matt varnish where there are shine induced by cyano glue. It remains to finish the ship (the air), the sea, the establishment of bridges connecting the ship to the dock and moorings. I'm not too good at photography and it's a set that is not easy to photograph. But hey, I started. Best Regards Alain.

Hello everyone and thank you again for your participation in this post. Below, 3 pictures of my work plan for 2 days and I think I still have for a lot of time. I am currently setting up the quay section. All that has been achieved for 18 months are finally finding their places. It represents hundreds of pieces and boxes to put in music and to stick. I do this for an hour. Then I leave the room to change my mind. But what foot I take to finally put all this in place. Good day to you. Best Regards. Alain.
