Working on sub-assemblies for my build of the old Revell 1/285 model of the USCGC Eastwind. PE at this stage is from GMM 1/300 USCGC Campbell/Taney/Eastwind. The Revell kit is configured for c.1940-50’s configured breaker and my build is c.1960s so lots of removal and scratch building is necessary.
More assembly work. Unfortunately the kits helo is the wrong acft type for my build era so I tried to modify a HH-3 frm another kit to an HH-52. Actually worked out quite well EXCEPT the scale is way off so my final build will be w/o a helo on deck.
Working on a scratch built taffrail and towing bitt for the fantail. The Revell kit has a simple canoe stern so I cut and built a towing notch in the transom to reflect how the Wind class were actually configured.
A fit test and work on the scratch built retractable helo hangar.
Testing the helo hangar.
Another fit test with more sub-assemblies added.
