Very neat kit! I wish someone would come out with some of the more modern USN patrol craft and minesweepers in large scales. Even 1/350 is too small for me on these smaller ships.

Little progress, started adding details( though my building time isn't completely spent on my knees searching..., luckily )

first the larger parts like the doors, then the smaller parts as the various boxes:

also took a start on he main mast, still a lot to be added, but first it needs to be straightened up a bit...:

1 off the vertical antennas was lost (very fragile connection) and was replaced by a bit of copperwire....

The main class for this ship is called the Buyan-klasse. It is a small ship, with the possibility for coastal bombardements with artillery and rockets, mainly used to guard the Russian coast. Thanks to it's shallow draft (2m and 2.5m for the upgraded Buyan-M) it has also the possibility to guard rivers and come to shallow coastal areas.

Image

Later (2010) this class was upgraded to the Buyan-M klasse, with better stealthproperties, vertical launchtubes for anti-ship missiles and subsequently became a lot larger (10m in length, 2m in width). There's also an exportversion called Tornado.

First dryfit of the main parts... looks promising (ahum)

nose aligned:

some form errors:
Image

So bottom hull is wrong shape and too long...
Image

In the assembly guide, a plan is provided (luckily on scale, so the top hull looks spot on, lower hull should be aligned at the rear...

So I've bitten the bullet and used the saw:

dryfit:

and glued:

So the glue has to set for 24h, and then on with putty and sanding.

there's some slight problem that keeps popping up, and I don't seem to get rid of it while sanding...

I couldn't find the regular 2-componentglue that I'm used to work with and I've tried a new glue
Image

Works like a charm, positionable for 5 minutes, dry after 1h and solid after 24h. No wires as with regular Pattex, high bonding strength.. one disadvantage... it keeps popping up from between the grooves of the several parts... even after sanding, cutting, etc till it feels smooth, 1 day later... they're back...
