DE body plan.jpg
Hi Shiggy, Fabian,
above the body plan (Spantenriss) which is valid for all the DEs. You will have to enlarge this drawing to 1/72 yourself. Note that the vertical and horizontal grid lines are exactly 3 feet (914.4mm) apart. That is 12.7 millimeters in 1/72.
Frame 0 is at the Forward Perpendicular (Vorderes Lot in German) and Frame 16 the Aft Perpendicular (Hinteres Lot). Length between Perpendiculars (LPP, is LzdL in German) is 300 feet for all the DEs (except the Evarts class). This means the distance between two frames is 300/16 = 18.75 feet, in 1/72 that is 79.375 mm. Study
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schiffsma%C3%9Fe to familiarize yourself how measurements on a ship are taken.
I recommend you to get the book 'Anatomy of the Ship: USS England', published by Conway. Above body plan is a scan from that book. In general the Buckley is similar to the Cannon class, but there are differences.
For building USS Sutton (Cannon Class) I recommend studying the website of USS Slater (also Cannon Class) very closely:
http://www.ussslater.org/ If you get any more questions, pleas ask. I have more drawings of the Cannon class too.
By the way: I speak German too, if you get stuck in some language issues I can help you out there.
